Solved How to force "Recently Added" section refresh on the main screen
#1
I keep adding new sources to my library, but for some reason the "Recently Added" section on the main screen is not refreshed. It keeps showing movies from the source added two weeks ago.

Is there anything special that I have to do? Or some time must pass? Before this section is updated?

The section below (Unwatched movies) is being updated moments after new source is added. So no problems here.

So far I have:
  • Restarted Kodi many times and the TV box as well
  • Triggered library refresh many times from both Kodi TV interface and through web interface.
I am using:
  • Kodi 20.2 (20.2.0)
  • Git: 20230629-5f418d0b12
  • Compiled: 2023-06-29
I have Settings in Advanced mode and I have enabled every logging-related option except for debug logging (because it brings no information except for memory and CPU).

But logs show no entry. The latest entry comes from the list of sources scanned recently (I have enabled scanning my entire library upon Kodi startup).

This has been resolved as my misunderstanding of how Kodi works (sorts items in the main screen).

Items in the main screen are sorted by the file date, not by the date they were added to Kodi. The "recently added" must be understood as: "recently added to the source" not as: "recently added to Kodi".

It doesn't matter when or in which order you are adding sources / folders / files to Kodi. It only matters what is the file date stored in the source's file system.

In my case these three titles ("Immortal Beloved", "Copying Bethoven" and "The Imitation Game") has been downloaded (and save to local file system) as the last three files in the entire source and so Kodi recognizes them as the last three recently added.
