I have a few TV shows that display artifacts for the first few seconds of either starting, or if you make any movement (FF, RW, etc.)

95% of my videos are AVI/DIVX and it only happens on certain videos. Is this just an encoding issue, or something I can set with the player to avoid?

I get a similar problem. Flashes of green for example. It seems to happen more when there is lots of black on screen, like during titles for example.

It's just the player resyncing audio and video. This was introduced to fix a far worse problem. A better solution will come along eventually, but it's not high priority.
