Plex to Kodi Move Issues
#1
Hi, just installed kodi on my Mac. coming from plex.

Overivew
- System > Media >
- added a tv section (inside here there is a folder with each tv show > all episodes)
- added a movies section (feature films)
- not looking to use Plex Media Server to Kodi connect.

Issue(s):
- the Movies section has both Movies and some TV shows
-- how do you just show contents movies in the movies section (no tv show), movies not like file type but only feature films.
-- why is it mixing tv shows and movies?

- The TV Section has the default "Your library is currently empty..."  If I click "enter files section" and select the tv media list.
-- it shows all the folders but no posters, would like it to show the folder contents and show the shows
-- it doesn't remain as the default media selection. Is Kodi not able to process TV shows in folders, does it have to have all tv shows media file at the folder root level?

- Playback speed 1.5x not available
-- Using the default skin Estuary but when playing back movies there are no playback speed options (do I need another skin, as I read else where it's skin dependent), skin recommendations?

you must enable "sync playback to display" in Kodi Settings, after that you can change speed with Alt+left/right

@darcal,
Seems you have posted in a few sections. Careful not to double post, it is not recommended.

Issues. 1 - The movie section should only contain movies not tv shows.
Please check to ensure that the content for your tv shows is set correctly.
Settings>Media>Library>Videos
Choose the tv show folder, and  from context menu choose Edit Source and check

Playback Speed
Ensure Settings>Player>Videos>Sync playback to display is enabled. (NB. Audio pass-through will not work with it enabled)

Check those and then I will help with you other posts

Cheers,
LongMan

MediaImport is a feature that allows an instance of Kodi to act as a client which can import media items from a media server. Servers that are currently supported are
  • Another Kodi Instance (via UPnP)
  • Emby and/or Jellyfin Server
  • Plex Server
In your case you will be using the main machine as your server.

MediaImport
Forum  and Wiki

Install this build on the both machines.

You may need to rescan your library.

For UPnP Sharing,
Settings>Services>UPnP/DNLA  Enable UPnP Support  (Both Machines)
and Import media items from UPnP Servers - Enabled  (Client)

Then add your imports
Settings>Media Sources (Client)

So with MediaImport it states "defined way of importing media items from external source" is that actually importing the files itself. I'm really looking for kodi server from machine1 to show up in client in tablet 1 through the kodi client. So it can stream from machine1 but not copy the media over.

Specifically show up in Movies and TV Show.

Just confirming what it's doing since the page makes me think it's an actual media import not just a client / server situation. Since the table is considerably more limited capacity.

No Not Media files import. Media Metadata import.
The library of the client is populated with metadata from the server. In so doing it looks the same as a local library except when you play an item the client plays it from the server via UPnP.

The advantage you don't have to browse like files, you have a 'local' library.
