Smile
Hi, I am using Kubuntu 24.04 development build and I would like to try out the Omega Beta 1 build of Kodi but there is no release file for this version of Ubuntu/Kubuntu. Will this be updated soon?

The team Kodi PPA is currently unmaintained, and there is no ETA on its return.

I was just wondering then, how is it possible for the linux community to test this version on current and proposed OS's if it is not downloadable?

Thanks and regards...

because the team-kodi ppa is not the only way to install it

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I don't have the knowledge to build it from source code unfortunately.
The package listed in https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble/kodi-bin for noble is Nexus (20.2), not Omega (21)
Best regards,
KG

right then you would compile your own

welcome to linux, where almost nobody waits for "someone else" to compile things For us

if you're going to run a testing or experimental OS then you will be limited to what is available, as you can see LTS and stable versions already have it
you could try running an unstable but honestly i don't really think you should be running an experimental OS

There is no prebuilt Kodi 21 nightly for linux anywhere. you can only get prebuilt Kodi 20.2 at best.
AFAIK The only way to get Kodi 21 beta1 is to compile yourself for now

If you do not have the knowledge to build from source, why run a bleeding edge development version on kubuntu?
Team-Kodi do provide Kodi 21 nightlies for the following
android
darwin
osx
webos
windows
Kodi 22 nightly Windows 10 and 11 | 21.1 Xbox One X | 22 nightly Linux Mint Wilma XFCE | CoreELEC NO 22 nightly S905X4 aarch64

try the flatpak, it has a beta branch with v21: https://flathub.org/apps/tv.kodi.Kodi

Code:
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub-beta https://flathub.org/beta-repo/flathub-beta.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flathub-beta tv.kodi.Kodi
flatpak run tv.kodi.Kodi//beta

Thanks @Zuzia for releasing the debs! any chance you could add packages for ubuntu 23.10/mantic as well?
Also is you build based on GL or on GLES? I ask because GL used to be the default however HDR support only works on GLES as mentioned in another thread
