Show Video Length in Video Listing
#1
Hi All, I am currently using Kodi v21.0 on a Nvidia Shield (2019). I use the Kodi app to play videos from an external hard drive connected to the Shield. Currently using the Aeon Nox skin - as it uses big text for the menus and is easy to see from a distance (I don't really want to change from this skin). Apart from playing videos, and changing a couple of settings here and there, I don't do much else... not technically minded.

What I am trying to achieve is when a list of videos are displayed, is there a way to show the name of the video (which I can currently do anyway) as well as the length of the video in hr/min format. Not too concerned about displaying a preview of the video - just want the file name and length.

I have tried googling, but most of the messages I have come across are from years ago and full of coding... I am no way technically minded to do coding, etc... I am a complete numpty when it comes to that. Is there a simple turn on button for this feature or that I can get a plugin for?

Any help would be appreciated - you will have to literally spell things out to me in any steps I should take to achieve what I would like... apologies for this.

Side menu > Sort by: Duration.

Thank you - I didn't know that Side Menu existed.

In 'List' view, I only have the option to sort by 'Name', 'Size', 'Date' or 'File'.

If I go to 'Icons' view, I do get the length of the video.

I would however like to retain 'List' view and sort by length (not by 'Size') - so in essence showing 1. Video File Name and 2. Length in Hr/Min).

Is this possible?

Upon a closer look, video length is only shown for some videos in 'Icons' view - so still keen for 'List' view.

That is all you'll get without scanning the videos to your library.

I have added the video duration to the list by modifying the file View_602_FanartList.xml. It has worked on my Android 9 TV. But on my new TV with Android 12 I can't access the folder data so I can't modify the file. Would it be possible to have the file in some other folder, e. g. in the profile directory?

Nvidia Shield, attached usb ssd. Kodi. Aeon Nox skin.

Video title with video length and end time was there, now it is not there.
After fresh install of Kodi & Aeon Nox it was there, now it has gone.
Spent 2 days trying to get it back. So many dead ends.

Kodi Aeon Nox - Video Title with Time and End time shown.

Kodi Aeon Nox - Video - Title - No time details there anymore

Kodi - Default Skin Estuary - Videos - shows the time of video at least.

Solved it this morning.
The usb attached external ssd content type had been set to Music videos.

The ssd has folders in it that contain more folders with videos in them.
I had experimented and assumed changing some folders content back to None, the change might fix the time length and end not showing.

In Windows you can have different folders set to different content and the change is saved and stays that way.

But I only noticed today, this change would not happen in my Nvidia, Aeon Nox setup, even though you click the tick save and OK to clear the library.
The content still stayed on Music content.

Only after I set the - VIDEOS - Files - the attached ssd - Set content - This directory contains - None, the video length and time end now shows on all videos.
