Solved 21.0 Omega Update Causes music file directory non-existance
#1
As the title says. After updating to version 21.0 my music directory is empty. Any attempt to repair this issue causes a blank Kodi background screen and then a program crash to desktop.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked for 2 days and now the same no library and settings to repair causes the application to crash. I have my music located on a synology NAS. However I don't believe this to be the issue due to all my backed up movies are located on the same NAS.

Not sure the cause but the symptoms are there. I suspect someone missed something in regards to the 21.0 update, however it's a guess.

A lot of people have updated without issue and at this point you're the first to lose a source. Suggest you look at the file sources.xml in the userdata folder with a text editor and see if the source is available in the path listed.

So it worked at one point and then develops to no library? Smacks of path issues or some corruption.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

I finally found time for figure it out. I do store my database on a separate machine. After you mentioning corruption it had me dive into the log files you asked me to link. I found out that it tried to migrate my old database from 20.x to 21.0 but failed to do it properly causing all the headache. So I wiped both databases and allowed Kodi to rebuild the music database. Seems to be working.

Thanks for getting back to us with that 'solve' although re-doing the library isn't exactly a solve. Might have been something in the database that wasn't quite right. I always recommend when updating, export the library to separate files,  use a fresh portable installation, ensure functionality at which point you can copy the some of the user-data files over.

Thread marked solved.
