Audio dropout with AAC Codec Omega 21.1
#1
After upgrading to 21.1 from 21.0 i experience audio dropouts on video files with AAC codec.

It does also seem to happen on other codecs like Dolby Digital but not that often. Briefly tried DTS-HD and TrueHD/Atmos and they seemed fine.

The Speaker icons on my receiver will flicker when this happens, and i also experienced some big video stutter together with the audio drop out on a video file with AAC.

Did not have this issue on 21.0.

Went back to 21.0 to double-check and watched the same video, but the issue is not there on 21.0, only 21.1.

When the audio drop out, the speaker icons on my receiver will also "disappear". Tthis happens all through the video and the dropout are 1 second every time.

Just a thought but have you tried without the video delay in your advanced settings?

I can try, but that delay is only for 24fps content, and the AAC dropout issue is on both 24 and 25fps files.

I have not had any audio issues on Omega, both Beta and RC with this setting.

Removing those lines did not help.

I note others with this combination: MD Radeon RX 7600 XT with AMD 32.0.11029.1008

Enumerated WASAPI devices: Device 1 HDMI - 1 - LG TV SSCR2 (AMD High Definition Audio Device) I'm hoping that you are connecting the GFX card to the AVR and then to the TV, via hdmi waspi? If not, then what is your cable connections?

Display resolution ADJUST : LG TV SSCR2 #1: 3840x2160 @ 50.00Hz (129) (weight: 0.000)
Matched a desktop resolution with double the refresh rate LG TV SSCR2 #1: 3840x2160 @ 50.00Hz (129)
Set for 60 hz or 50 hz for apal set-up, not double for the purpose of this test

DXVA: H264 SD interlaced has issues on AMD graphics hardware. DXVA will not be used. In the player/video set for adjust display-refresh and sync off, render method software (you should have enough CPU power for the test)

ActiveAE - start sync of audio stream Seems to be the issue, with a lot of packet drops. Turn on the OSD Keyboard controls (wiki) Ctrl+⇧ Shift+OPlayer debug info and keep an eye on frame rates and frame fetch issues.

Give this a go and let's see if these changes elicit any positive signs.  Given you have many add-ons and scripts running, it's clear that it's not clear other than the audio packet drops & sync issues, next post will be a simplification of your set-up with a Portable mode (wiki) plain jane installation default everything.

Yes hopefully.

Just watched Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1, UHD BluRay with Atmos, and there where no Audio issue during the movie (almost 3 hours long) So TrueHD/Atmos is fine.

One thing i notice is that AAC is decoded in Software on my HTPC with AMD, and on my main PC with Intel 13900K/RTX 4090 is says Hardware.

However it also says Software on 21.0 so i doubt thats the issue, but i dont have any AAC audio issue on my Intel/Nvidia system.

I can look into this tomorrow.

I run HDMI from PC to AVR, then from AVR to TV.

Again, i had no issues on Omega Beta or RC releases with my RX 7600 XT, and i have tried both 21.0 and 21.1 today on the same latest AMD driver 24.7.1, and only 21.1 have issues.

When i got the stuttering earlier today, pressing Ctrl+Shirt+O i noticed alot of packet drops and sync issues yes.

I don't have an hdmi AVR so it's not directly comparable, but do not have audio drops with AAC and 21.1 (same as 21.0), AMD/NVidia or Intel.
Not much to be done with the log because there is a lot of noise and we don't know at what time the problem happens. Looks like you skipped in the video quite a bit at 1 second intervals.
Maybe a short sample would allows others to reproduce the problem.

Okei, i just tried watching the same file again today, its a short kids "movie" 14 min long, and it played without any audio issues.

I dont know, gonna try some more AAC movies/videos and see, it might not be an issue after all..

If you manage to find a solid test scenario, then you could try older nightly builds of v21, from the one just before 21.1 and going backwards as far back as is still available on the server, up to the day of 21.0 release, to see if the issue goes away at one point.
