Hi,
I noticed this behaviour in Kodi 21 back when it was released: activating the screensaver made the system lock up and killing Kodi was the only way to get rid of it. Today, I did some troubleshooting and determined that the problem only occurs for me if a profile as a lock on it. See below for some details.
1. Version of Kodi. V21.0.0 Omega (Git:20240406-60c4500054)
EDIT: Same problem persists in 21.1.0 (Git 20240817-183eb85f10). Both installs were 64-bit.
2. Windows Version Windows 10 22H2 (NT 10.0.19045.4780)
3. CPU/Architecture 13th Gen Intel® Core i7-13700K 3.40 GHz
4. RAM amount 48GB
5. Detailed Instructions to reproduce the Problem:
a) Start Kodi
b) Select a screensaver
c) Allow screensaver to activate or select preview
d) Behaviour without Master Lock: moving mouse or pressing keyboard exits screensaver
e) Behaviour with Master Lock: Kodi locks up, can only be exited with task manager
f) Other notes:
i. Does not matter which skin or screen saver is used
ii. Does not matter if single or multiple profiles are used
iii. Does not mater what type of lock is used (numeric, full text)
iv. Adding Master Lock immediately initiates the problem without logging out of user profile (i.e., if no lock is set, then screensaver works fine; as soon as it is set, system locks. It is not dependent on logging the user off)
v. Logging in with master lock and then removing the lock and testing screensaver immediately solves the problem
6. Details of all devices relevant to the problem Only tested on one PC at the moment. Thought it may be related to NVIDIA card, but problem existed on old 3060 and still exists on newer 4060 Ti OC
7. FULL Debug Log https://paste.kodi.tv/ajemipunoq.kodi
Has anyone else experienced this? For the Devs, I hope that helps, let me know if you need more info or troubleshooting.
Could some kind soul, or perhaps a Dev try setting up multiple accounts and PINs on their system to see if they have the same issue? Thanks!
