Would it be possible to run 1080p with this setup, assuming I am running Linux with VDPAU enabled?

I have the following:

AMD Athlon 2500+ Barton (1.83Ghz)
Abit NF7-S Mobo
512mb - 1Gb RAM

and will add:

PCI 8400 or 8600 Nvidia Card

Go for a G98 8400GS with 512MB RAM. About 30 bucks and you're done with anything 1080p. A celeron will do fine - even a singlecore one. A friend of mine uses a P3 with 1Ghz and a 8400GS and has no problems with 1080p.
