Obviously storage space is king.
But what else is important?
Will 7200RPM make a difference for a stand-alone XBMC HTPC?
What about cache? Will 32mb vs 16mb really make any difference?

Go for a small SSD boot drive and a silent cool big storage drive, of a file server.

Followed by speed. SSD plus XBMC live kicks ass.

I don't think it makes a huge difference. I have a 500GB and 1TB Seagate 7200RPM, 1TB WD 7200RPM and a 1.5TB WD Green 5400RPM and honestly I find no difference when watching even say a 10+gig 1080p file. As long as it is quiet and has the space you need you should be fine.
