i am using xbmc 2003-12-11 and ccxstream 1.0.15.

i have a number of .avi and movie files (extension varies) that cause xbmc to crash. this means that the sceen freezes on the selected file. at this point the cursor does not return (even after a long time).

the relax debugging window indicates that it has lost contact with the xbox and that it is nolonger responding to icmp requests.

having read some other posts, i updated to ccxstream - however, the problem is persistent.

so reviewing the files... all of them play successfully on the localhost in windows media player. all of them are the same audio and video codec (see below). however, i have other files that have the same codecs but they play fine.

hangs xbmc:
1. audio codec: mpeg layer-3
video codec: xvid mpeg-4 video decoder
2. audio codec: mpeg layer-3
video codec: xvid mpeg-4 video decoder
3. audio codec: mpeg layer-3
video codec: xvid mpeg-4 video decoder
4. audio codec: mpeg layer-3 decoder
video codec: divx mpeg-4 dvd video decompressor

plays fine:
1. audio codec: -
video codec: xvid mpeg-4 video decoder
2. audio codec: mpeg layer-3 decoder
video codec: divx mpeg-4 dvd video decompressor


does anyone have the same problem or any solutions....?

alternatively, does anyone know how to (or even if its possible) to enable logging in xbmc....?

or - can anyone advise of some further criteria i should pull out of the files to further help debug...?
