i have a linux server using samba to share files to my xbox.
i have recently installed the 01-02 build and cannot access the shares at all (this is mentioned in a separate topic). i could access the shares under the 12-31 build but mp3 playback was slightly choppy. on average - there were 2 or 3 short breaks in mp3 playback per song. divx and photo shares do not have any problems.
i have a wireless g network and when using xbmp the choppy playback problem does not arise - i assume because i have xbmp set up to cache a large proportion of the mp3 file.
i understand that separate cache settings per share is on the "to do" list for xbmc.
would using a streaming program (eg ccxstream for linux) as opposed to samba help with this choppy playback or am i better waiting for the cache settings option to be implemented?
thanks.
