prior to christmas i has smb shares working in xbmc from both the 2003 domain control and from an xp workstation in the domain.
post christmas i both rebuilt the xp machine and have moved sucessivley from 01-07 to 01-15, and now can no longer establish smb connecitons to any xp clients in the domain. smb connections to the domain controller continue to work perfectly.
xbmc shows the smb shares as emtpy, windows event log in the xp machine however shows login failures for the accounts. i have tried all of:
localmachine;localaccount:pswd
domain;domainaccount:pswd
domain.local;domainaccount:pswd
localaccount:pswd
domainaccount:pswd
previously i had only ever used the last one (even to connect to smb shares on the xp domain client machine)
for what it's worth xp reports event id 680 with the failure. then if the account is local the error code is:
0xc000006a
and if a domain account the error code is:
0xc0000064
on the 2003 machine the policy for signed communications has been disabled as advised.
anything you can suggest as next place to look would be greatly appreciated.
