So apparently support for metadata has been fixed in Jarvis beta 5. I see covers when I airplay a song from my iPhone! Even with Spotify.
Great work Memphiz. The current Airplay audio only implementation works much better than the previous one with video support. I hated waiting for 10 seconds before the video airplay icon would show up. And it didn't work half of the time.
Now audio Airplay works flawlessly! Many thanks!

Hi AussieFries,
I installed the latest kodi beta on my jailbroken iPad. It's version 16.0.0~b5, and Airplay works just as bad as on the stable version...
Are the iOS builds different?

This is interesting. I also saw metadata working again, but thought I just confused or it was somehow mircaculously in the cache or so?
Given you haven't changed anything, it could be related to IOS update? Or fixed in OE by someone else?

Would making a financial donation make any difference to your fixing this issue? If this feature is as desirable as some are saying, then it only makes sense for people to chip in and make a donation to pay for the developer's time, although it's likely the developer will never be fully compensated for the countless hours invested into it. It's at least some compensation for the headaches and if you're up to it, I'll certainly contribute a little bit to help out. I'm new to Kodi and use it on a Raspberry Pi and this would be a really great feature to have working.

no way i dig into this - sorry... the whole airplay feature will vanish at one point - adding something proprietary like this was a misstake in the first place...

Why vanish? Airplay makes kodi very interessting. If it disappear it would be very bad for alot people.
@raspberrypi2 users, if you want to airplay music without problems use musicbox. I got 2 microSD card 1 with kodi 1 with musicbox for airplay.
The mirroring is sadly not working. Hopefulls someone here will be able to fix the issues.

I think you did not understand. Apple is trying to break the free implementation with every update they release. If you want airplay, buy apple hardware.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
