Glad I can make you laugh lol, but I'm dead serious and I stick by what I said.

To me it makes ZERO sense to ignore just "the" and not all other articles. I have dozens of movies with "a" or "an" and would prefer them to be treated the same.
The most intuitive would be to enable the user to define the list in the gui or have a choice between or a custom list (which defaults to all accepted English or international articles.
I think all righthtinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired.

It makes a lot of sense actually.

"The" is by far the most common article and just about everyone can agree that should be ignored, when it comes to the others then you are going to get increasingly divided opinion, for example I have few movies starting with "a" or "an" so I'd expect them to be list in A, this is why there is an advanced settings so those who want the additional articles to be ignored can do so. However I can see adding in an xml is not the most user friendly way, perhaps it could be done via a multiselect via the GUI but that would need a group of predefined articles, the benefit of the xml method is it's completely flexible.

Or the ability to add your own via the keyboard dialog?

Sorry, that was a bit of an ass response on my part Wink It's all preference for sure, but I can tell you while I was working at a movie rental store that A and An is JUST as prevalent as THE. Again, it's all preference, but if you saw how many A and An titled movies are literally out there you would be on our side! Nod Now, that was 12 years ago.....sure the As and Ans have increased since then

I did think of that but wasn't sure if it was possible as I've only seen keyboard dialogs entries used for single values.

I didn't think about adding them all at once; just one at a time. Wink

This is what I was thinking of when I first posted. I know not everyone wants to do it my way, but at least give people the option without having to mess with advanced settings for A, An. Now I wanted to ignore "(" all because of the movie "(500) Days of Summer". But I can easily just edit the "sort by" for that one movie without a problem.

Funny... And I'd bet most people want to alphabetize correctly. Guess it goes to show you... Those who are good with grammar assume others will care about being correct and those who aren't think people would prefer to do things the incorrect way...  Ha ha ha....  Wink

Hi !

I'm using Kodi in French on NVidia Shield since last week (I'm new to Shield and Kodi) and I encounter this kind of sorting issue that is really annoying and didn't find how to fix it.

When I sort by name (my filenames are in French), "L'", "Le", "Les" prefixes are ignored and I see this :

I want these files to be sorted under L.

Is there an easy way to fix that ?

Thanks for your support
