Release TheMovieDB movie scraper - PYTHON version
Thanks
Reply
Hello everyone, for some time, the names of the actors are in the original language, for example, for the Japanese actors, their names are symbols, is it possible to change this?
Example: Ryunosuke Kamiki = 神木隆之介

What language do you have set in the scraper settings? If you have Japanese set then the actors name will be in Japanese where available.

Looks like no-one has added the name to the French listing, so it is defaulting to the original language name... https://www.themoviedb.org/person/225730...r-FR#fr-FR
If you have an account, edit the profile and add the name.

It's strange that I have the same issue with some actors when I had no problem with them before.
The actor's name is not scraped from the movie's TMDb detailed list of actors ?

Image

eg : Chow Yun-fat and the movie "The killer (1989)"

If I actualise the movie "The Killer" from dialog movie information where "Chow Yun-fat" is displayed correctly his name is not the good one after.

movie before actualise :

after actualise :

EDIT :
Kodi v22.0 ALPHA1 (21.90.700) Windows x64
The Movie Database Python v3.0.1
I'm french too

Indeed I followed your suggestion and added the French translation in TMDb for "Chow Yun-fat".
https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1619/t...anguage=fr
https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1619/c...anguage=fr

And this works again for actor "Chow Yun-fat" for fr-FR language.
I m not sure to understand why this is needed now and not before but this works.

This means there is a lot of updating to do for many Asian actors for fr-FR language ... :/
Anyway thanks for your advice.

Thanks for your answer, but it's working great with Universal Movie Scrapper (tmdb parameters). I don't think it's a website data problems...

I haven't tested yet, but there have been no updates to the scraper since April, so if this has just started happening, then there has been a change to the API at TMDB.

As for UMS, I wouldn't be using that as it is broken.

I am guessing something has changed at TMDB. Looks like it now uses a fallback to the "Primary Translation" when data is missing.
The Primary Translation is nominated when the actor is created at TMDB. See image.
Create an Issue report for @rmrector here... https://github.com/xbmc/metadata.themovi...hon/issues.
Maybe a fallback language setting - Original / English ? Though, what happens when Germans want German as fallback. It might get a bit complicated.
Probably best to ensure that TMDB is updated, rather than trying to get the scraper to workaround incomplete data.

I was previously running Kodi v18, and have just run a new a clean install of 21.0 Omega, on a PC (AMD Athlon 220GE with 8gb of Ram).

While scraping for movies the Movie Database Python (version 3.0.1) extension just hangs on the first movie.

Only changes I've made are that I excluded file paths in the advancedsettings.xml and installed an extra skin.

The Movies are in the format of Movie Name (YYYY).mkv (or mp4)

After about 10 minutes an error pops up breifly on the screen saying the scraper cannot connect 'Errr 110' and the logs have these lines:

2024-08-18 02:20:38.093 T:1338  warning <general>: [metadata.themoviedb.org.python]: The Movie Database Python error searching with web service TMDB: failed to reach the remote site
Reason: [Errno 110] Connection timed out
2024-08-18 02:20:38.198 T:1498     info <general>: [metadata.themoviedb.org.python]: Find movie with title '7 Seconds' from year '2005'

I can nslookup api.themoviedb.org successfully and have managed to install skins, so I'm not sure what else I am missing?

Can you provide the full Debug Log with debug mode enabled.
What country do you live in?

Seems to be a Linux issue there.
Can you run the Debug Log again, but also enable Component Logging for libcURL
https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy#Ena...ic_logging

I am not a Linux user, so maybe others will have to advise further.
Have you tried opening the tmdb api url from that same linux computer?

I tried curl https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movi...&year=1999 via ssh from kodi, and no such luck.

I also tried on another pc and nothing.

New log with libcURL enabled: https://paste.kodi.tv/ahahadapof.kodi
