Internet Archive Game Launcher
First, thanks for the excellent Internet Archive Game Launcher. I use nothing but in my KODI setup.

I'm requesting help to map a button or button combo on my game controller to the "Escape" key or whatever else will quit the currently running game. I am running KODI 18.2 (actually, an upgraded KODIbuntu) with default skin, RetroArch 1.7.6, IAGL 2.1.1 and I use two Smart gamepad TGZ-850Ms that are recognized by RetroArch and IAGL as Microsoft X-Box 360 pads. KODI says the default media center controller is based on the Xbox 360 controller as well and "Controller 1" was easy to set up for that purpose using the GUI. Both controllers work just fine in every emulator and game I play (and "Controller 1" navigates KODI fine). The only thing I cannot do is actually Quit the game I'm playing. The only way to do that is to press [Esc] on the keyboard.

These Smart gamepad TGZ-850Ms controllers are extremely similar to PlayStation DualShock controllers except that the [Analog] button is labeled [Home] and there are two extra buttons; [Back] above [Select] and [Menu] above [Start]. These don't seem to be mapped to anything. Going "Back" in KODI is actually accomplished by pressing [Home]+. If I press [Home] by itself, I go to the RetroArch screen and the RetroArch screen goes away (or maybe it's just hidden from view?) if press [Home] again. Pressing the [Select]+[Start] buttons takes me to a MAME BIOS screen. From there, no other button or button combo (I know of) exits that. I must press [Esc] on the keyboard.

I've got easy access to retroarch.cfg or joystick.xml if it's one of those that needs editing.

I meant to say Going "Back" in KODI is actually accomplished by pressing (Home)+(B). But, since I'd put everything in brackets, the bracketed B cut the end of the sentence off and made the rest of my post bold. Link to the Smart gamepad TGZ-850M.

Please excuse my ignorance, but where on android is the temp download folder for IARL Downloaded files? I have my 1GB allowed for files and would like to access them. Is it possible to set that temp directory to something else? or to even select a Network Harddrive?

Is there a “best” choice for MAME emulator to play games on a FireStick?

I would recommend hiding the MAME list (which is based off of the latest available usually) and using MAME 2003 or FBAlpha exclusively for arcade stuff. The latest MAME versions are typically too processor heavy to be used on RPi's and low power ARM systems (a Shield could handle it for example, but a firestick probably couldn't). If you were to try and get it to work, MAME 2015 or the latest MAME version available is your best bet (ymmv on performance).

I'd call this a bug. The issue is the list was updated, but your settings weren't copied over to the new list. You can fix it just by re-applying settings for the list, or rerunning the wizard (however you set it up previously). I've opened an issue to fix this in the next version.

Hello! = )
Ive installed the Internet Archive Game Launcher into Kodi (17.6) on my amazon fire stick gen 2. Installed fine, did the same settings like the person in the video on youtube that got it working good. Playing with Retroplayer.
Problem: Starting the IAGL, choosing a game, klick on launch the game and it close down and im back to game list again. No messeages or error just nothing.

Ive still bought a bluetooth game controller. Just want to see if it starts. I only have my fire stick bluetooth controller. Is that the problem?

Any idea? Looked really simple to install on the video.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2w2ImIUXzs

Thanks! AW

@zachmorris

I am on Kodi for Shield TV trying to add emulators, but can't see ScummVM, Stella, ReiCast, Mupen64 or most of emus. All I can see are Nintendo, SNES, FBA, and some sega ones nothing else. But when I search for missing emus, I find them somehow, but installing them doesn't work, I hit install button it does nothing.

Please help Sad

I tried to download an EasyRPG game tonight and after I had tried that it seems to have failed downloading sometime during the download and then afterward I can no longer download or play any games in any emulator core. When it's set to show information all it does is grey out some of the buttons and all I can do is cancel it.

When I set the default action to be download and launch all it does is throw an error and say to referr to the log.

Here's the log: http://ix.io/1K5f
