Previously it was necessary to use a script for this function to go to visualization when playing a song and this setting was found in skin settings (GO DIRECTLY TO FULLSCREEN WHEN PLAYING A SONG).  The Kodi team created a native resource that does the same job, so it is no longer necessary for the skin to support it via a script, as there is now a native resource in Kodi for the same function SWITCH TO VISUALIZATION ON PLAYBACK).

It´s no more available in the skin settings, now you find it here

Settings -> Media -> Music -> General (near the bottom) -> It's called: Switch to Visualisation on Playback.

Setting up the skin.
Don't know if you recall a while back in MQ8, you made some changes so that when playing music in full screen the fanart slideshow would show fanart from the extrafanart subfolder, if you had one created, in the album folder (I did this for the band Genesis). Is this still possible in AQ9? It still works in AQ8. I've changed the setting in the 'Art' menu dropdown at the top of the screen to EXTRAFANART, but it is showing fanart for the band and not the album playing.

I've been trying out CU LRC Lyrics addon. It seems to work fine, until I press the 'back' button on my Shield remote, which every time causes Kodi to crash. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this behaviour? Not sure if it's skin related or not? It doesn't happen in the default Kodi skin though.

@Chalklands I don’t have different Fanart for albums, only artist, but isn’t that location set in the Artist Slideshow addon? I have all my Fanart in a separate location from my music files and do use a extrafanart folder and I define those locations in the Artist Slideshow config screen.

Thanks @wags1. I only do it for one band, but it works fine in AQ8. So I wonder if it is something in AQ8 that is missing in AQ9.

It's a known bug. You can use the escape button as a temporary solution, although using the escape button is not exactly the same as using the back button.

I hope this will be fixed in the future.

A general question. In Customise Main Menu, What exactly does Set Composition actually do apart from insert an image in the very bottom position of the screen? Is it just eye candy?

Been playing with the views in music. Discovered that for album songs, view 09 looks good with a bit of tinkering.
Initially, it looks like this:




With the record/cd spinning.

But, by setting the transparency of the base color to 0%, you get to this:



After more tinkering with the artwork settings in 'Information, Get Thumb', you can change the clearlogo and banner to something like this:



or this:



Unfortunately, I think for changing the clearlogo and banner, you would have to do so on an individual track-by-track basis, not for the album overall (Maybe that is possible, but I couldn't get that to work). Which is a shame, as I don't think I'm patient enough to change each track individually! Unless anybody knows differently?

There is also an option to add a 'Plot/Description' text box that sits under the media info box on the right of the screen, but I don't know how you would add text to that as I don't think Plot or description are tags that work in a music album nfo file.

Anyhow, makes the track listings a bit more interesting IMO.
