Try installing this, it fixed my video playback worth a try and post your findings it seems as though any problems with video hanging or choppy play are being resolved after an install of this.

Cool, Please post your results after installing to let us know if that fixed the choppy video. Ive seen it fix playing HD Videos now on 4 diffrent machines. All hung up after about 5 seconds of playing and after the install of GTK smooth as can be.

I have tried both installers on 3 different pc's. 2 of them have ati video cards and the other has an nvidia. On the ati\intel based pc's xbmc installs and starts up fine, on the nvidia\amd based pc it will install but every time I go to start it up I get a program crash notification from windows. Specs of the pc are:

Windows XP SP3
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
BFG Geforce 7800 GT AGP
2 GIG DDR Ram
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platnium
MSI KT-660 Motherboard w/ Via Chipset

Same problem here. AppCrash when doing just about anything related to trying to play a video on my machine with an Nvidia 8600GT.

The only one that works great with very few (if any) crashes is the version posted a couple months back in that "10 steps" post (here).
