am i the only one or are cddb searches all screwed up as mine? using cvs 10-28.

95%+ of my mp3 files are named after all common standards. i haven't ever botherd about id3 tags, i just take them as they are (they do contain id3 tags). i mostly have 'releases' from the "usual places".

but when i do a cddb query i either don't get hits at all or hits that don't match at all. like searching for erika badu album and get a charles mingus album as a hit. searching for audioslave - audioslave (2002) and don't get a hit at all (and this i think is a pretty popular and recent album). or searching for "creedence clearwater - bayou country (1969)" and first it looks as it finds a creedence album from 1985 but then it says "no albums found!"

couldn't it be possible to do the cddb search result in the same way the imdb search is done? if there isn't a perfect match, list the first 10-100 hits and make it possible to select the prefered one?

...ehurm.

another thing with this. in the 10-28 cvs i haven't gotten any cover images on the actual search hits, valid or invalid hits. don't know if it's album specific or cvs-specific.

yes, i'm listening. Smile

for alls information: when xbmc querys a cd from cddb, only if the hit is unique the track information are used. if it has inexact (more then 2) matches no information is used atm.

@floink: have you queried your rolling stones albums with xbmc or another tool? cause of the multiple hits. or have you got 3 different hits for 3 different cddb querys with xbmc? or is it the album query on allmusic.com you are talking about? (pressing "info" on remote or "white" button on controller) Huh

i was using xbmc 10-29 cvs and dvd-remote with info button. i got three hits in a list and was asked to select one. (so frodos addition wasn't in there.)

don't remeber this case specifcly but it feels like i have variyng succes rate depending on if i'm in file-view or album-view and pressing info button. i guess searching on id3 info or folder/file-name.

so you are not talking about cddb, which is for getting trackinformation on audio cd's. (inserting an audio cd and getting the directory on the cd)

you are talking about allmusic.com, now i got it. :d

when you query a album, it depends on, whether allmusic.com provides information on the album and a cover image. it could be that allmusic.com does not have album information or a cover, but to be sure, surf to there website and do the search "by hand".

btw, what is the allmusic.com query feature called? has it a name already ?

oups sorry for the mixup  :d (maybe rename topic of thread?)

my mistake. forgot about that feature. yes  i am talking about the allmusic.com feature.

haven't actually used the cddb feature in xbmc yet.

what about allmusic-search as in imdb-search?

i have tested to search for the different albums i tried querying through xbmc, via web browser, and did find all of them in there. and none of them where found by xbmc. though i had to browse a little for them and i don't xpect xbmc to do that automatically. so i guess it depends a lot on the search engine on allmusic.com?

still a (better working?) list of hits could help. i did at one occation, get a list of a couple of albums to select from in xbmc. though they weren't the right ones.

i am running xbmc-2003-11-03 and when hitting the white button for album info, the info will show up but no album art. i used to get album art in the first xbmc though. but loving the look of the new xbmc, great work!

with xbmc-2003-11-26 when querying the music information (pressing white button on controller) for some albums it does come up with multiple answers so i can choose the correct one then i get all the info and album art. but if the correct album is not shown and i dont want to select any answers no buttons let me back out, i can only select an incorrect answer.
does this then link my album to the wrong info from allmusic?
