MediaElch - MediaManager for Mac/Linux/Win (with music library scraping)
Great progress so far. Keep up the good work...

Any chance of youtube and imdb trailer downloads being added ? would be great to have this running on a headless linux server monitoring a directory and updating the meta files on the move.

A little bit out of scope. Trailer downloading maybe, but running on a headless server and monitoring directories for changes: no.
Version 1.0 is finally out Smile The nfo generation should be work very well now and also the sql interfaces should be usable.

@Komet - thanks for your hard work - MediaElch is looking great.

Small problem:
- when clicking on episode thumbnail in TVShows (if not previously downloaded by earlier versions of ME) only shows an image of an actor.
- I can not find a way to download missing image (from TVDB) for episode thumbnail even though episode thumbnail image is available at TVDB. Also no option in 'Settings - MediaCentre' to set type of image for Episode Thumbnails (in xbmc the format is usually 'ShowName - s01e01 - episode name.tbn) Size is usually same as TVDB presents it.

- Season posters - similar problem but at random, sometimes shows posters to choose from, other times none - if not previously downloaded, shows nothing and unable to download existing at TVDB
- also no settings to select type in Settings - MediaCenter.

Other than these small problems, nearly perfect.

** EDIT: After some searching around in MediaElch I found that these problems could be solved by re-searching each episode and/or TVShow to get the Season Poster and Episode thumbnails.

Hello Komet,
Just started using your scraper and so far it's great, thank you!
A question, is there a way to choose the language of the scraper for a specific folder? i.e I have a folder for French movies that I'd like to have scraped in French and the rest of my movies in other folders, in English.
Is that possible?
Thanks.

No sorry, that's not possible. You have to go to settings, set language to french, scrape your movies, and then set the language back to english.

I don't know. Have a look at their terms:

What about using imdbapi.org instead?

Depending on how the CLI version turns out, this could be done by setting up a program to watch the folder for you and call MediaElch on each subfolder and then moving the folder out after MediaElch finishes. That's one of the benefits of linux servers, easy chaining of things together like this.

Sounds perfect. If only we can get trailer downloads now then i could likely automate this on a watched folder.

Hi Komet.

Just tried MediaElch and were happy with it for a start. A couple of things are missing for me to jump from Ember to the Elch, but as you are activly developing I will just sit and wait Big Grin

One thing is missing that I think was not mentioned in this thread before and that I really would like to see is support of a HTTP proxy.
Meaning the possibility to enter server and port of the proxy running in the network and MediaElch does its HTTP magic using this connection.

Are you planning on adding this feature in the future?
Reply
Yes, a http proxy setting will be added in the future.
Just tell me what you think is missing in MediaElch, maybe I can add it.

Ich often use MediaElch instead of Ember the last time, too. I have the feeling that it's running a lot faster.

One thing in MediaElch is a pain: VIDEO_TS directories are not identified automatically. E. g., a dvd movie is identified something like

V:/movies/moviename (year)/VIDEO_TS

so you must correct the film name before searching. Sad

Hi Komet,
i installed the version 1.0 and simply love it ( specially genre & rating ).
some observations:
How would you handle BluRay Sampler like
El Amriachi / Desperado
i choose in the directory structure the convention to add also the year ( to handle remakes ), and if it comes to sampler i add both years separeted with "/" aka (2002/2004) but it looks like these movies are skipped from your scanner
also ordinary files with the ts extension are still skipped ( could you pls add this extension , specially handy for recorded movies, some tv cards store recordings with .ts )

When it comes to organising large collections it would be VERY helpfull if the list sort movies case insensitive ( maybe if some people love thatmake this a configuration switch )

Feature request:
1) in addition to that a Function where you could actually search for double entries would be very helpfull, just to clean things up.
f.e. for trip with the family some movies are transformed into mkv ( makemkv is a great tool ), but as time goes by you forgot to delete the files, etc. etc.
2) maybe some technical information like size, etc. would also be something nice to have
Edit, sorry forgot something:
3) it would also be nice to see what movies do not have a rating or a genre stored, so we can fix that as well :-)

Thanks for all your work
Linus

Mh, never realized it... "V:/movies/moviename (year)/VIDEO_TS" is an example path where MediaElch shows "VIDEO_TS" as movie name?

Multi-movie discs (or files) is a thing I kick down the road. That's not a high priority for me, so don't expect a solution soon... Sad
ts extension: added with the next release
Feature requests:
1) Maybe later. But keep in mind that this would require that you also have stored a nfo file along with this transcoded movies.
2) Only size would be possible (and change date), but no information about resolution, codec etc. For this to work I would a need full "player like thing".
3) I'm thinking of a better filter (and sort) function, I think this will make it also into the next release.

Thanks for your ideas!
