I'm editing this as it seems more like a bug, or missing functionality. XBMC PVR plugin ignores tuner priority settings from mythbackend. I have 2 ATSC Tuners w/ 2 Virtual; 4 in total. I also have 3 CC tuners. My tuner order is Tuner 3 for watching LiveTV from my ATSC and Tuner 9 for my CC. Tuners 1,5 & 7 are first priority for recording shows. XBMC picks the first tuner on each, which fucks up any scheduled recordings. Having the LiveTV move scheduled shows has no effect.

This needs to be fixed.

Temp workaround.

In mythbackend go to "5. Input Connections"
change your "Live TV" and "Schedule Order" priorities so your last tuner records first, and your first tuner records last.
Example:
HDHR-US (ATSC) which has 2 physical tuners and 2 virtual.

Your Tuner order might be numbered different than mine, as Myth sets up the HDHR Prime with virtual tuners during setup, I have turned mine off. So there are only 3 physical tuners.

Doesn't fix it for me, XBMC seems to be choosing the tuner with the lowest schedule priority regardless. if i set tuner 0 to record first it uses that for live tv, if i set tuner 4 to record first, then it uses that.... so regardless of the priority setting for the scheduler it always clashes. its as tho its looking at the wrong priority setting to decide which to use.

hmm, i'm a bit confused on your reply's.

Based on this you illustrate nearly exactly what I was trying to accomplish in this thread.

XBMC uses the first available tuner to watch LiveTV. So setting your Mythbackend to use your last tuner first for scheduled recordings helps mitigate the problem at hand. This is not a permanent fix, it only helps mitigate the issue. But as you can see from my posts in this thread I am also still having issues missing recordings.
