I know this is outside of the scope of this area, but I figured someone here might know of a good product.

I'm looking for personal photo web server software, something that can be managed via a website like Picasa and has a good interface. I've looked at a couple like phTagr and ZenPhoto and Gallery3, but they just don't look very clean.

It'd be nice if it could interact with XBMC too.

Maybe is there a web (photo) server built in to XBMC that I can allow others to access remotely? That way I can use Picasa or something to tag photos and then just access XBMC web remotely to view the pics?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I've had vertigo for two weeks and not all thoughts are coherent or linear.

depending on the system you're running your XBMC but if you're running XBMC on Linux you could use Gallery3 http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Features
just a thought. I do not know if that works but if someone knows please advise ...

Hello ...

just tried some gallery websites (gallery3, coppermine, piwigo). unfortunately all these are made for websites to upload and then host your galleries. Which is not my (and I think) not your idea. All work but not in that way I would like them to function.

I ( and probably joecooper84 too) am looking for a image presentation web server which is similar to the above mentioned Gallery3 but which allows to set a folder for the albums and not requesting the upload of images.

someone any ideas?

best change are the different web interfaces. Marachino for example.

it needs work. Like xbmc also needs work related to photo's... Since other tools lack ik might be an option.

this is what I was thinking. I have Maraschino installed and I like it very much! But I have (at the moment) no idea on how to build up an Image presentation service with it. That was the reason for asking for any hints ...

As far as I see this Maraschino could act as a startpage for the Image Viewing site but not as the main site for that.
As said before I already managed to install gallery sites which can host images. Nerd

I will experiment a little bit if I find some time the next days ... but if someone has additional ideas I would very well appreciate this. Blush

the Gallery Server Pro 2.6.1 is the same as the gallery websites (gallery3, coppermine, piwigo). unfortunately all these are made for websites to upload and then host your galleries not for managing your existing image content. as far as I understand their principles.

The closest thing I've found to what I'm looking for is http://1000memories.com/
It has been out for a couple of years but still has some pretty bad bugs.

I like that you create albums for photos, can tag people in them, and can comment.

The issues are that the tagging is finnicky, sometimes it stays, sometimes it doesn't. Navigating through pictures you sometimes the original you clicked on won't load, so you have to close the picture you are looking at, and the one you want at is stuck in the background.

Also there is no real "account" system so you can't link old tagged pictures to someone who just had an account created.
Maybe someone knows of a site that has matured more?

had a look at it. I do not think that this is what the original Poster joecooper84 was looking for. I think the closest is the Photo Station of the Qnap devices. There you can link your library and they are displayed on a website. Additionally you can upload new images. seems to be perfect but as this is installed on a NAS it could also be installed under XBMC linux but I do not know where to get the sources. anyone an idea?

I am not sure if this is quite what you are looking for but I am currently using OwnCloud as my picture repo. This connects VERY easily and securely using https source option built into XBMC.

Not sure if this comes closer to what you want but I like it a lot. It's more lightweight than the rest of 'em and you can just throw pictures in a folder and it will pick it up. No db needed, just PHP and a webserver;
