Little question. When you're clicking through a series of videos that are hierarchical (for example, the movies in a set) it seems you have to scroll all the way back to the arrow icon to go up one level.
If you hit exit, you go back to the Home menu. If you hit the up arrow, you go to the left slide menu or info panel. Is there a command to just go up one level, without scrolling back to that arrow icon?

Thank you both much, I got two different answers, both quite useful!

Hi, not sure if you ever got this figured out, but I to ran into this just tonight when I bought a new droid box.
I found the simplest way to resolve this was use the "key mapeditor" in kodi.
It might not be installed, so just do this:
Installing
To install this add-on you must do so from the Add-on manager from within Kodi by going to
The home screen
Add-ons
Download
Program Add-ons
Keymap Editor
Install
Once you've got it installed, select "navigation" and then look for "parent directory" then hit OK on it, and then select your key that you want to do it.
Boom! just that simple.
