i don't think this is an xbmc related issue. i have xbmc build 25.12.2005 and everything setup correctly and xlink
just works fine. i just played yesterday farcry instincts on xlink over xbmc.
make sure your network config for the pc where kai is running is correct and also router config, etc. you can temporarily disable firewalls to test if thats the problem.

yea everything is working now. in fact, it started working yesterday a couple hours after i posed in this thread (forgot to give an update because i was posting at xlink too). the weird thing is, i did not change a single thing. i did not re-install xlink, the registry fix, xbmc or mess with my network settings. the only thing that did change was the server that i was connecting too. once i connected to boygenius.co.uk, everything started working. so maybe it's an orbital server issue. i cannot remember the old server i was connecting too, but once i connected to boygenius, everything was fine.

I'm having the same problem as everyone here although I haven't tried Halo 2 yet (and that seems to be where all the players are).
Sorry for the bump in the other thread

I, too, am having this problem after trying to use Kai for the first time in close to a year. The build I was using at that time worked fine.

bripab007 try using kai with the PC UI as it is easier to troubleshoot the reason it will not connect ..
their is also a bug in the PM3 skin at this time that stops kai XBMC from connecting automatically ..

Ya know, I had only tried Forza Motorsport, but when I tried Halo 2, everything worked fine. Go figure. Maybe nobody was actually hosting a game in Forza, and I just didn't realize.
FWIW, I tried to edit my home.xml file for Proj. Mayhem III skin to allow Kai to start on bootup successfully to no avail. For some reason it still won't start unless you turn it off and then back on again.

grr can't edit ..
forza has Live updates which you may not have .. also i believe that if their in the game playing you have to wait till they return to the lobby before the game shows up .. ask in the chat ..

I'm running version 5/27/2007 of XBMC, and the problem with Kai not starting on boot-up in PM III definitely exists.

That I will verify (as of todays build) there was a previous post somewhere of a "workaround" where you went to settings and disabled Xlink then went all the way to home and back to settings to enable it. After doing this it takes it @ 10 minutes but it finally connects.
