Sorry for replying to my own post, but I solved the problem by downloading and installing the libstagefright version for experiment H/W decoding. Works like a charm now.

I tried this version in my Sony Xperia Z Tablet, and it was an improvement, but XBMC crashes a lot... and I cannot even play 1080p.
