Please let me know if this is in the wrong forum. I have mythtv backend running nicely with xbmc (frodo) using the mythtv client add-on. How does one activate commercial skip with recordings that have been flagged? I came across this:

but I believe the automatic commercial skip applies to the old way of connect to a mythtv backend. Appreciate any help or clues.

Hi,

unfortunately commercial skip for pvr addons will only come after frodo since an api function was missing.
I've created a PR for it, but it was already after the feature freeze. https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/1743

Hopefully it can be added directly after frodo is out.

Has anyone managed to get commercial skip to work with the MythTV PVR plugin? I've tried the latest XBMC 12.1 distros (on RaspberryPi - in case that matters), and none of them show any 'edl' data in the playback info popul, nor do they skip any flagged comercials.

Works fine for me. Don't remember if I enabled something but it does work. I'll dig around and see if I have some option enabled. I'm using the nightly of xbmc and of the PVR addons

Yes, please do check if you had to change something. What version is your MythTV backend? I'm running .26.

When you display playback info in a popup, does the 'edl:' label show anything? Mine is empty.

It will not work with Frodo (12.1). You need to run a xbmc gotham (13) nightly build, but I do not know if there is one for the Raspberry Pi.

Does anything need to be enabled in either mythtv or xbmc? Myth 0.26 is setup to auto commercial detect recordings but ads are not being skipped and I don't see anything about EDL on the codec info screen.

Gotham alpha 3 with PVR 1.7.10.

There's no API. If mythtv has the commskip list, the addon will forward it to xbmc's player.
EDL list should be also visible in the codec screen.

Can you test if mythfrontend skips the comm breaks? You can use the Z and Q keys to jump between the marks in myth frontend.

I'm using the xbmc-xvba ppa, which seems to support edl

Have you had a look in the openelec forums? I've seen nightly RPI builds there, not sure if its Gotham tho...
