MP3s ripped by MusicMatch don't play
#1
this problem was in early versions of xbmp
frodo fixed the problem after i uploaded some mp3s that wouldn't play.
this problem was mentioned earlier in another forum topic and i uploaded some more mp3s so the issue could be resolved.
i'm not sure if it was forgoten or if the developers are having a hard time with it, but those mp3s still won't play in xbmc.
what happens is as soon as i select an mp3 to play xbmc locks up and i have to restart the xbox.
the mp3s were ripped at 100% vbr in variouse versions of musicmatch. if need be, i can upload some more incase the previouse mp3s have been lost or deleted.
thanks for such a great app, keep up the great work.

it's a known problem that musicmatch creates 'broken' vbr mp3s (it's something to do with a missing vbr header), and it causes problems with plenty of software not just xbmc.
this software can fix the mp3s apparently
http://www.willwap.btinternet.co.uk/programs/vbrfix.htm
and here's some more info on the problem

i didn't know mucicmatch had that problem.
well, it would be awesome if i didn't have to "fix" my files. i don't have a problem playing them anywhere else.
i have over 1700 albums ripped (yes i own all of them :p) and i've already backed them up to 27 dvds. i really don't want to have to run them through that utillity. xbmp plays them perfectly. so i'm hoping that xbmc can be "fixed" in the same manner xbmp was.
thanks for the info though. i think i'll try it out on a couple of albums.

heh, that is unfortunate. :d
i think most software can still play the mp3s fine but may report the wrong total time and have problems scanning through the mp3.

i certinly hope you're not laughing at my lost days of ripping my entire cd collection. Smile

could be. i rarely scan through songs. so i wouldn't have noticed there being a problem. my car deck seems to play them fine displaying the time and the fact that its a vbr file.
so much for standards i guess.

its fixed in xbmc
just update to the latest mplayer.dll and it will work
