How do I install mythtv .26 in xbmc? [solved]
#1
I am running Linux Mint 14 and XBMC 12.2. When I install mythbox it is only version .24 and my backend is version .26, so no connection. I added the xbmc repository ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu quantal.

You need to install the mythtv PVR add on, not myth box. Install it via settings > addons.

Found it! It was not in the obvious place. It was installed but disabled. I didn't look at what was already installed.

Next problem. It is now enabled and configured without error messages. However mythtv pvr does not show up on the live tv menu, just files and addons.

What do you mean by live TV menu? The live TV section accessed via the home screen?

You also need to turn it on in Settings|LiveTV.

I assume you have a working backend already?

Yes, you need to turn it on in Settings|LiveTV. I just enabled and configured in the addon section. Backend was already working.

Works fine now.

Thanks

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm having a similar problem. My backend is 0.27 and the libcmyth plugin only supports up to 0.26 is there an easy workaround for this?

Compile the add on from source with the pull request for the 0.27 protocol.

Thanks, I've already downloaded and compiled that, can you overlook my n00b-ness and explain what you mean by "with the pull request"

Nevermind, I've found it here https://github.com/fetzerch/xbmc-pvr-add...ythtv_0.27

thanks for the help!!

there is no 0.27. Current is 0.26, anything else is master.

Quote: Note: Please note that the following reflects changes for a future release of MythTV currently in development and not recommended for production use. The current release is 0.26.

There is no 0.27, there is master, which will become 0.27 when released. It is experimental code. It will break at times.

And no there is no XBMC 13, there is 13-alpha - also experimental and subject to breakage as the code is developed.

Current master is what will become 13 or 0.27. Regardless wether they are experimental, alpha or pre release - they exist.

They don't exist until they are released, until then they are master or aplpha or whatever you want to call it.

Mythbuntu repos do confuse things by calling the current master by the next version number (so presently mythbuntu package master as 0.27. When 0.27 is released they will package master as 0.28).

But don't let mythbuntu's numbering fool you into thinking that master/0.27 is presently ready for use. As this thread shows Smile
