G-Box Midnight info needed
#1
I've just brought a 2nd hand G-Box and everything seems to be running fine but I've got a question. When it turns on it goes to an android desktop where i pick xbmc but I was told I could just install xbmc, think he called it barebone by static. What is the benifits to this and what do you lose doing this, I've only ever used xbmc on ios and windows, never android.

It's a "barebones" install of Android automatically goes into XBMC. Check Static's thread here for the various pro's and con's, as well as what other people have experienced using that version: http://androidtvbox.us/topic/xbmc-barebo...ltra-fast/

However, it sounds like it hasn't been updated in a long while, so you might want to search around for what other G-Box Midnight users are currently using. Eventually, I hope to have a chart up for recommended builds for various boxes, but I haven't had a lot of time to look into it, yet.

Thanks for that Ned, i've gone and done the barebones install due to the fact i only wanted it for xbmc. Do these boxes struggle with any skins ie slowdown and sluggishness?

Not sure about G-Box specifically, but generally speaking, most skins do okay on ARM boxes. Aeon skins probably are too much, and some skins might need some options turned off to be more smooth (they'll have options to turn off animations, etc).

what ismj1nx veriosn?, I've also got a little problem with midnight. When I turn on my gbox and it loads into xbmc my date says 1970 and is the wrong time, after a minute the date goes right but the time stays 1 hour behind the right time. I've got it set to uk same and date.
