video stops playing after couple of seconds

dear all,
several people have posted the same problem in this forum but i could not locate any usefull answer. i have the following problem:

when i start playing a movie over the network using samba, the player stops just after a couple of seconds.
i believe that is a cache setting problem so i report here my configuration:

[xbox]------[gateway]-----[linux share]

dashboard: evox 3921
xbmc: 14-11-2003 (european format)

on the smb.conf is present the following line:
socket options = tcp_nodelay so_rcvbuf=8192 so_sndbuf=8192

i tried to add <cachesize>8192</cachesize> on the xbmc xml config file, but unseccesfully.

any idea/comment??

thanks

had the same issue using smb.. however, somehow it always started an mp3. have only been able to reproduce the issue with the video quiting when there where songs in the playlist. clearing the playlist and restarting the videos solved the issue. so maybe a combined issue that also involes the playlist.
