Why not WMC as backend?

My programming is rusty but Jeff check this site out: http://blog.unhandledexception.net/save-...se-buffer/

Maybe there is a way to access the buffer to create your own recording?

Remote potato craps out at the end of the recording it has detected. I.e it will stop playing at 5 mins if you only have 5 mins of recording at the time you started the video. This is the same issue Dr. Jeff is having right now I'm assuming.

I think the Android app, Remote Media Control Live TV, has a Live TV option that, when coupled with the latest version of Remote Potato server, creates temporary recordings that I think overcome the problem you are working on... you might want to check that out.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

Ill dig out my touchpad running android and see if it does. I was using remote potato before for streaming but switched to plex.

Krusty already creates his own recording, we're just getting it to play back while it's being written to. Making some good progress, but I'm going on vacation to Cancun this Saturday (graduation gift!) and I won't be able to work on it there. Probably won't be willing, either. Wink

Krusty can let you guys know what's going on until I return!

Hey everybody,

Update: Jeff made a big leap in his ffmpeg code and he managed to send me compiled dll's before he left on his trip (what a guy). I have been testing it today and it works really well, much better than the conversion-to-ts method. This was a really difficult problem, much harder than we realized when he started, so kudos to Jeff for nailing it.

Its not all there, after the live stream plays for about 20-30 minutes it crashes, but we are pretty sure we know what that is due to, we just need him back from Mexico to finish it. I am cleaning up the code to integrate it fully and will send it off to other testers hopefully by tomorrow.

The dude knows his stuff (I assume he will be good at medicine too).

Hey Krusty any chance a few other testers can jump in on this?

Good eye. This is essentially what we are doing.

Krusty I'm curious is the buffer encrypted as well? So that way we have access to the copy once channels.

Yes, the buffer is encrypted.

Any chance I can get in on the private beta? Got a WMC and XBMC going here with a Ceton card. would love to see how she's running.

iI would love to test this and give feedback. I have uk freeview and dvb-s2 with a motorised dish, so let me know if you need more testers.

I would also like very much to give it a try. I am not really interested in LiveTV - only in EPG access, recording schedule, and watching my recorded-TV.
I have a cable Digital-set-top-box with Analog (S-Video) connection to an Happauge PVR-150 card.

Okay, I'm back! Vacation was awesome, but I suppose I have some work to do.

I have the list of bugs (smaller than expected, but I'm sure you guys will find more) and I'm going to be working on them. The timeline is a bit iffy as I'm starting work this week, but I want this just as much as you guys, so I'll try to stay on top.

Thank you Jeff. Glad yoy enjoyed the vacation. Looking forward to any progress that can be made during your free time.

Pretty stoked thst the buffer is encrypted. When this all gets figured out my media center will be complete! I Know you've had a bunch of requests about testing but I have a ceton 4 tuner with a TA for switched channels. If yall want me to test anything, lemme know. Thanks guys.
