@Stigmata1823 Wiki Page for Smart Playlists might help you out, but a lot easier to just do it as thebearnecessit says "videos - files - playlists - create new playlist"

Edit Next update has a shortcut to Playlist Editor from Skin Settings - may help Smile

Actually, with a bit of luck - Today Big Grin

Just adding in more submenu items & the ability to edit Program & Picture Submenu sets & maybe Concerts/Music videos if time.
Also holding off just a little, might hear back about recent TVShow widget problem

In principle this seems to have fixed the problem (with some brief initial testing) however it has also created a new problem in that the furthest left item loses its thumbnail and no longer works. However the other items DO now play, so it seems like you are on the right track as far as a fix is concerned.

Thank you very much Smile Smile

Silly typo - They happen Sad Will fix now.

New problem with idea of shortcut to Playlist Editor - Initially worked as I had been in the playlist editor, but on further testing I cannot pass a value for music or video playlist. So it gets confused & looks like a no go.

How to add recently added "documentaries" widget to documentary films and documentary series playlists on the home menu?

Before I found this thread I experimented a bit with the modded Confluence vol. 2 skin in order to have documentaries in the home menu. I have 'Documentary' (the movie type) and a 'Documentary series' (the TV Show type) - you cannot have both under one menu I believe -, both based on playlists. To filter out these documentaries from the original 'Movies' and 'TV Shows', I replaced these labels by another two playlists (rule: path 'does not contain' the documentary folders). I found the information on this message board, and all it took was some editing in the home.xml file.

But... I want my custom home menu items, in this case Documentary and Documentary series, to show recently added (Documentary) films and (Documentary series) episodes respectively. Now Documentary will show recently added films in general, and not the recently added films that were added to my 'Documentary' folder, which the playlist was based on in the first place.

So, is there a way to add a widget to a custom menu, but based/limited to rules from the playlist? Thanks in advance!

First impression of your skin: fan-tas-tic. Keep up the good work.

Same as previous post quoted below, use playlists to organise media, add playlist to menu & select widget type = playlist

Do any of the supplied "Preset Movie Playlists" come up with the widget when added into the home menu ?

Yes, that's correct.

I don't have any widgets show up. I only have three menu items, "Movies", "Kid's Movies", and "TV Shows". The first two are Playlist (Video), and "TV Shows" is the regular one that was already there.

I tried adding different Widget Set items to each, but nothing shows up on the main menu. Am I supposed to install an outside script or something?

I'm on ATV2, just in case that's an issue.

Thanks.

You need to have "Playlist Widget script" enabled

Image

Then the widget choice if item is a playlist should include the item "Playlists"

is this happening so far ?

Hi Mudislander, thanks for your quick answer. I cannot select widget type 'playlist'. The script, however, is enabled. I must say the playlists were made before I switched to this skin, but that should not make difference, should it?

The MOD is not recognising your playlist as a playlist. Do a quick check for me & add one of the pre-set playlists to the Main menu & check it's working

Negative. The 'family' playlist showed a 'playlist widget', but after re-adding the same playlist, the widget option disappeared. Another strange thing happened: my xbmc has become terribly slow in starting up. I think I am going to start all over, and see if that will help.
