Dlna is very useful, but with Miracast you can play games, browsing, and you can pinch to zoom on photos, and use every android app. With dlna you can only send photos videos and music, and also YouTube videos...

I know, but interest generally seems to be on chromecast now, particularly given the completely arbitrary limitations of miracast.

Oh FFS codemonkeyricky wants to 'monetise his software eventually' and it will 'run for approximately an hour at a time'
Go spread this bullcrap in a non open source forum, but keep it out of this forum pleeeaaaaase.

we developed a similar mira/multicast environment allowing for one or multiple users to get A/V coordinated and distributed to multiple users on the same network, this can be also configured to have a central video with everything else being remote audio, paired from a mobile device allowing the user to user his or her headset or local speaker.
recently we coordinated a method for users to point the camera of the mobile device to the central screen or video monitor and then relay the audio from that screen to the mobile device itself...
we hope to have the units installed in the early part of 2014 in several locations, for the locations that will be public spaces we will officially provide a list
