@blondeshanks -- check latest git. I just forgot to add a weather preset to the items (also added an update library, clean library and music video preset). Also you can use the 'custom' item from the selection of items (its at the very bottom right) to set it to what ever action you want. First keyboard dialog is path -- e.g. ActivateWindow(weather) -- and second dialog is the label -- e.g. Weather.

@blondeshanks & @deletedpenguin -- (re: onscreen osd) -- check latest git, should be fixed now for the most part. There's still a few minor bugs with pressing up/down that I've got to sort out, but in general it should work properly now.

I have 5.0 installed on my test environment works perfectly!
my media center (macmini 2012 with openelec) works with the repository, now with version 4.7.
How do I install 5.0. whatever I try I cannot get it working, is this caused by the reposetory? or is there another way? Are the first minor variations of yesterday in the next version of the repository included?
Or should I just be patient?

Hi Jurial!

First of all, I love how the skin is improving. The latest addition is a great asset of the skin.

I have two remarks though:
1.) If I create a custom home category, lets say 'concerts'. That category contains my concerts videoplaylist which opens when clicking on the concerts tab on the home panel. Now, below my profile name it says now "N/A 0°C". Obviously that is some weather information. What i would love to have it show would be the amount of concerts in my videoplaylist. I guess the skin does not support that yet right? Before the 0.5.0 version i had my concert playlist on the music tab, which did 0 items. So i guess it does not scan the videoplaylist for items.
2.) Now when i created a new category, there is all those plus signs in the submenu where i can add addons. As i only need 2 or 3 things i would add to my custom category i was wondering if you could somehow reduce the "plus"-tiles to only one that shows until you have used all tiles. So that i have lets say a new added movies tile, a actor tile and the "plus"-tile that indicates that you can add more tiles. In addition to that, is it possible to have the tiles centred, like they are in the Live TV category?

I don't know how much effort 2.) would need or if it is even possible. It's just an idea that crossed my mind yesterday. Would be no big deal if it's not gonna happen.

When I try to install via zip XBMC hangs, when I restart version 0.42 emerges.

Git version is not meant to be available for install via zip. If you are downloading the zip from github then make sure you delete the old skin.arctic folder from the xbmc's addon directory (on linux it is ~/.xbmc/addons/skin.arctic on windows %APPDATA%\XBMC\addons\skin.arctic). Then unzip the new one to that directory. Even better is to install git and git clone it into the addons dir then use git pull in the directory when updates are available.

@locomot1f -- I'm not sure what you mean? I just made it so that the weather menu item is no longer hard-coded to be weather so that it could be customised to whatever people like (and have its own submenu). If you want it to be weather you just go to 'manage custom home items' click on that main menu category, choose configure and select the weather item for it. Same thing goes for the widget.

The only reason it disappears on the update is because the properties are not set for it and I didn't want to force a re-intialisation on everyone because then everyone would lose their existing settings.

So set it back up the way it was before? I'm not sure I understand what you think is different. When configuring the tab, give it the custom function "ActivateWindow(Weather) " and set the widget to Weather. Now it will be exactly as before.

Hey Jurial, just noticed that, when playing music, I can't access the options setting when hitting the info button and turning off the scrolling text doesn't seem to have any effect. I also discovered a colour overlay, but don't see anywhere to toggle that as an option? Personally, I'd prefer to see the fanart.

Oops! I didn't even mean to leave the colour overlay in, it was just something I was messing around with -- I've removed it now.

Ah I see. I couldn't really think of a way to distinguish them because the label size is pretty limited so I only added Clean and Update for videos (as it is even CleanLibrary by itself doesn't fit and I cant use multiline labels because they can't be bottom aligned, only top or center). If you want them for music just add a custom item -- the commands are UpdateLibrary(music) and CleanLibrary(music)

Yes you just need to be patient -- the repository will be updated sometime this week, just making sure there are no major bugs before I send the request to update it.

I was going to add a section for the info screen but there were some issues with detecting whether there are extrathumbs available that caused some weird bugs/issues. I'm going to overhaul the viewtypes over the holidays so I'll consider it when I'm doing that.

1 -- the profile info is something I completely overlooked so thanks for bringing it up. I'm not sure if it is possible to grab the number of items in the playlist without a script. I'll have to have a proper think about what I can do with this section so that it displays relevant info yet remains flexible to customisation -- I'll get back to you on this.

2 -- I tried something like this in the past but it was really glitchy (i.e. all the tiles would display momentarily then disappear and jump over to the centre). This is something I really want to get working but simply haven't figured out a non-glitchy way to do yet. edit -- I'm not sure how I was trying to do it last time I tried, but I think I've actually got this working properly in the latest git...

Maybe... its a lot of lines of code (one for every single possible video widget item -- 10 x 4 types of widgets for both tv and movies -- so 80 lines )

Ah I see what you are talking about -- the special hardcoded weather submenu for the simple home screen. Its simply a matter of space -- since the main menu has static items then a hardcoded weather items means there is one less slot available for a custom item and I thought a custom item would be more useful since there are a number of other options to get to the weather -- for instance, a weather widget (which, since 0.5.1, on simple home you can focus the weather widget then click on it to get to the actual weather page) -- or you can use the weather item in the power menu at the bottom of the screen that you get by pressing down. It was just one of those tough decisions I had to make on the basis of the pros outweighing the cons.

Yeah, sorry, I don't know what it's called.

It's the menu on the OSD where you can adjust subtitles, audio delay, etc. On the music OSD, it's where you can change the visualization settings etc.

What one are you using -- offset, tabbed or onscreen? I tried all of them and can get to it... if you are using onscreen have you tried pressing down after bringing up the osd controls? Are the controls just not showing up at all?

It shouldn't be too hard. I actually think this would be a good option to have, especially for the global background -- I'll look into adding it as an option.
