EPG not showing all the channels in XBMC (appear fine in WMC)
#1
Been using xbmc on win7 for ages. Finally got around to setting up the PVR using wmc backend last night. It's working, records, etc. However, how do I scroll down in the EPG to see more channel listings? I've tried everything on my remote and hooked up a keyboard and tried anything logical there too (page down, etc). I can see our first 8 channels but that's all (in xbmc - more channels show in the guide in WMC so I know they're there, and the serverwmc setup shows 40+ channels of epg data found as well)

(edit: changed title of thread to reflect the problem since it looks more complex then originally thought)

The up/down buttons on the keyboard/remote, that's how I do it anyway. Did you remap your xbmc keys?

Looks like it's not a key issue, I think there really are just 8 channels showing up in the EPG in xbmc Sad

Arrow keys on keyboard or remote work fine to scroll around those 8 channels - I was assuming there was a "page down" command I was missing.

WMC is configured with 2 tuners (it's an older hauppauge card that has 1 ATSC and 1 SD tuner on it) and 27 channels currently. The WMC guide shows all the channels correctly.

The serverwmc setup shows the database opened, 27 channels found and 27 channels shared to xbmc. But then IN xbmc, I see 8 channels.

Any ideas where to check next?

^^^ this plus channel +/- scrolls up/down a page at a time (page up/down on keyboard)

Tried both pg up/dn on a keyboard and channel +/-. Both jump to the top or bottom of the 8 channels, but no more are shown.

you can turn on the LogReplies option in the config file and then the ServerWMC log file will show the actual GetChannels response so we can see what was sent to XBMC

You're not in a channel group are you? First thing to try would be reboot server first then reboot client.

Try unchecking hide DRM channels in server.wmc.

I just setup PVR MCE for the first time tonight. (Windows 8.1 x64, Ceton Eth 6)
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=187193

I can play back shows that were already recorded. (great)

Problem is I'm seeing zero channels in the EPG section when trying to test live tv. (guide is empty as well)

Here's my ServerWMC log http://pastebin.com/F7UYCVKX

The channels aren't transferring because every time our program tries to ask the windows vid methods about the channel status ( in this case channel copy protection) the call is failing. Make sure there isn't something funky about your tuner setup and that live tv works on for ALL tuners in wmc on the HOST machine.

You can ignore this error and transfer the channels anyway by going to the 'channels' tab in swmc and unchecking 'hide drm channels'. Then restart xbmc. The channel will transfer then (I think) but live tv will probably fail due to the problem above.

Nothing is funky with my Ceton ETh6 tuner setup inside normal media center. (other than the random no signal errors I've had for years and years that don't effect recordings)

Thanks, I unchecked the "hide drm channels" and now I can see see all my channels in the EPG. I soon found I needed to uncheck the "Indicate DRM channels by appending" option as well so I don't have to see DRM after each channel since it's on every one. Every channel I expect to play back, plays great now live. (awesome)

I have many more questions but I'll create new posts so I don't hijack this thread. I'm on my way to making this work! Gotham isn't exactly stable but it's good enough to tough through until beta comes out soon. (especially when we can still trust MCE is totally reliable on the back end)

This is the perfect bridge solution for hard core MCE guys like me wanting to migrate to something better sooner rather than later. (very nice)

That's great - and surprising. It would be great if you could send us a link to the server log (upload the log to pastebin.com) after you start a live-tv stream on one of these channels.

I'm happy to help advance this along. Here is the pastebin of my xbmc.log after I tuned in a channel and then closed XBMC in ensure the log was written.

The -drm is still being appended to the end of the station channel names even though I have that box unchecked.

Oh yeah here is the ServerWMC.log as well (whoops)

Thanks. To clear out that -drm thing, if restarting xbmc didn't do it, then try resetting the pvr database in xbmc.

Thanks that worked. (-DRM is gone now)

I'm finding that it won't tune to a live tv channel the first time. (hangs on Working...)
No Video Found on this channel popup error, then "Channel could not be played. Check the log for details"

It always works the Second try though.

Here are the logs, for this last 2 try event. (it happened in the last log I sent too)

Let me know what you learned :-)
