silly question - it's not under the showname "On the Red Carpet at the Oscars" is it?
otherwise can you produce a more verbose log so we can see what details are actually sent back to the client in the GetRecordings call?
stop ServerWMC
edit config xml file and set
Debug_LogRecordingsWithoutRequests = true
LogReplyMessages = true
start ServerWMC
start an XBMC client and wait for the progress bars to finish loading
Stop ServerWMC
upload the log
set modified config values back to previous values (at least the LogReplyMessages as that will cause very large logs if left on all the time)

Nope, under "On the Red Carpet at the Oscars" is a recording at 1:58 PM (which is the on the red carpet) and 8:30 PM which is some partial repeat of the actual oscars.
I'd be happy to provide the verbose. Where is config.xml? Do you mean ServerWMC.exe.config or ServerWMC_Service.exe.config?

Neither, ServerWMC has an xml config file stored under %ProgramData%\VDSoftware\ServerWMC (by the way, this info should be in the wiki and possibly the sticky threads in the forum as well)

Shows only get grouped into a virtual folder if they are part of a series (except for special cases of movies, sports, etc). So it should show up in the root. While it was recording it should have been in 'recording now' (which can be turned off). Assuming you looked for it while it was still recording, did you look in 'recording now' when you first checked? Is it still not showing up in xbmc?
To answer your question, the length of the show makes no difference.

I noticed similar thing yesterday....I had set it to record a show while I was at work to test. came home could not find it anywhere through xbmc so I figured it glitched, but then rebooted xbmc and then it showed up. like it needed to be refreshed.

Was xbmc running in windows or a non-windows client?

That is really curious, from looking at your log I cannot see any reason why xbmc is not displaying the file. I would have you upload the file so I could take a look but it is so damn big it would take ages to upload. Do you have any wtv tools that could truncate the file to smaller length? If not, I will try to think of what to try next.

can we try turning off the "Use metadata for recordings" option to see if that changes anything?
The other option could be to give him a hacked version of ServerWMC that puts everything inside a subfolder in the recording structure, rather than only series, because I reckon it has something to do with the path being "/" ie in the root level
Oh another thing to try would be to move all your recordings to another folder temporarily (that isnt in the correct path to be picked up) and thus leaving ONLY the 1 oscars file in the correct location, then see what happens (does XBMC show it, or does it show no recordings)
