You can use the "renamer", to rename everything according to your settings, to prepare it for XBMC.
(Do that after scraping a movie)
But you didn't want to do that...
You cannot just rename a file - this usually makes no sense?!

- scrape your movies/shows to get the right metadata/names/years/...
- use "rename & cleanup" to rename your files accordingly (as setup in settings, as you like) (test it on a single movie first)
You don't have to use any other program or do anything manually...

Very sorry, I do not understand anything.
How could I change a file name in tMM? So, I have a file, e.g. a movie, and I want to give it another name, how can I do it, so I want rename "Indiana Jones 2.avi" to "Indiana Jones (1987).avi", how do I do it in tMM? How can I make the new name?
Very sorry again for my bad understanding and many thanks.

Thank you for the links, myron,
Some pages to read, I had have some looks at it, already. Actually, I just wanted to know how you could rename just one single file name, but that is very interesting, also, I will have some further looks at it.
OK, thank you for that.

You cant rename a single file, but you can rename a complete movie with ALL its files.
This is the usual way to go.
Reason is, because the poster, fanarts & other files derive their name from the video file...

in the button toolbar above the movie list there is a rename button.
clicking this button will rename all selected movies according to your settings

Thank you, mlaggner,
When I click on that button the message "Filme\Masters of Horror (2006): Failed to rename" appears.
It sound like it is not possible to manually enter a new name.
Thanks again
