@fritsch there seems to be a revised shotgun patch. Could you build a new kernel with this to try? https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83677

@hre1:

As we now have you as tester.

1) The same happens with MADI?
2) If you choose "Deinterlace" as method that issue should not happen.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

@fritsch

1.) Will do that test this evening
2.) I tried this in the past, but that leads to heavy fan noise on my brix system and WAF goes to ground zero Blush

Yes 2) is stressing the CPU like hell, especially small systems with little fans have an issue.

I have been running the shotgun patch now for an hour and the GPU hang did not show. Promising. In general the GPU hang manifests itself in the first 20 min.

@hre1 can you do some testing too:

You _might_ run into other issues with that patch, it's a 10K lines of code patch - which does not fix the issue by intent but only by accident - it's called "shotgun patch" by its developer.

Okay first feedback:

no gpu crash but freeze in XBMC with MADI and VAAPI Rendering enabled

root@xbmc-sz:/home/xbmc/.xbmc/temp# pastebinit < xbmc.log
http://paste.ubuntu.com/8630317/
root@xbmc-sz:/home/xbmc/.xbmc/temp# dmesg | pastebinit
http://paste.ubuntu.com/8630319/
root@xbmc-sz:/home/xbmc/.xbmc/temp# aplay -L | pastebinit
http://paste.ubuntu.com/8630322/
root@xbmc-sz:/home/xbmc/.xbmc/temp# dpkg -l |grep mesa | pastebinit
http://paste.ubuntu.com/8630325/
root@xbmc-sz:/home/xbmc/.xbmc/temp# DISPLAY=:0 vainfo | pastebinit
http://paste.ubuntu.com/8630331/

without VAAPI-Rendering but MADI enabled the system runs 1 /1/2 hour without problems (will check that yet again)

do you have recommondations for checking some other parameters?

wrong kernel.

dpkg -l |grep 3.17.1 | pastebinit

it still runs the version from yesterday evening.

See here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1819277

but thx confirming that "mainline 3.17.1" is still having that issue.

Edit: And something else: stop running pastebinit as root, that's an old windows habit.

I thought fernetmenta means the gpu hang and that don't happend on my last test? So let me please know what you are looking for, if you write "...is still having that issue...".

Should i install the shotgun patch? If so do can you determine where the problem occur in the 10K code lines? Blush

First relevant thing is: _if_ that new testing kernel fixes your issue.

You don't seem to follow my recommendations, see post #20. So I don't know how to provide further help.
