New XBMC 13.2 and Weather Underground Add-on showing BROKEN
#61
Why? 13.2 was released ages ago. You can't expect support for 12.2 now.

Thanx cypherpunks, this worked for me, but I had to alter the py code by hand - first I just tried paste&copy yocur code inside the message and ran into script errors. I compared the code but found no difference. Nethertheless is was not working. No idea why.

This shows as broken in both Helix and Gotham. I am glad I can fix it as shown but is there a permanent fix in the works?

Thanks

I Download the personal version and enter my key in the setting however it's not showing the right weather info. it just say's 32 degree and has a yellow line though the weather pics and say's n/a Sat - Sunday. i don't need to reverse and do the other stuff i just type it in exactly as it show on the website correct?

No. That's not correct. You need to reverse it and encode it as described.

Pretty sure on Windows it will be in appdata.

Are you sure you are right when referring to the personal version from github? With the personal version downloaded from github I entered my API key directly without any modifications and after restarting XBMC the weather data was instantly downloaded.

(and to be clear, entering a modified key per the instructions on the first page didn't work for me with the personal version from github)

I was referring to the former official addon which has been marked as broken since that was the subject of this thread. I'm guessing maybe you're using uNiversal's fork. I haven't tried that one and no one is supporting it sooo.

I do know that when I first set my api up it took about 24 hours (maybe more) before it started working. Don't know if that's common or not. If I'm remembering correctly, there was also an email confirmation process to complete to activate the api.

Edit: It does appear that I was wrong. Reversing and encoding is not needed with the github version. Perhaps it just needs time for the api to be activated.

Whatever is on my github works, as is with regular api as you get it, no fiddling with api required.

Yes, and thank you very much for this, its much easier for the end user.

I had one question though. Is it confirmed that the addon checks for weather updates every 10 minutes (like was mentioned on page 1) ?

And if so, could this easily be made user configurable in the settings?

The reason I ask is that with 1 device, 500 api calls per day is more than enough, but with multiple devices at home, some of which are always on, and therefore always checking weather (even if the device is not currently in use) the api calls start to rapidly add up...

Once every 15 or 30 minutes might be enough to provide for more possibilities in this case.

THANKS anyway for your prompt fix, it works perfectly.

Perhaps a proxy for those API calls would be a solution?

Im not sure I totally understand your suggestion, however correct me if I am wrong but I think that regardless of how or where the call comes from, if its being called against my weatherunderground api ID then I think it will still add to the total calls?
