Broken OpenWeatherMap Extended
#61
There was an issue in beta4. I suggest to try beta5 and see if it still happens

Updated to beta 5 still crashing issues. I am attempting to post the log file but apparently it has too many characters. Not sure if you need the entire log to determine the problem or just the part of it. I'm going to copy from a certain point on and let me know if you need something from before this point. Just to give you an idea of what I was doing. I opened Kodi and went to Settings, Weather, Settings and I have 3 locations in there. I navigated down to the 4th location and it crashed. This is the log you have. I also had a crash when I tried to go through the locations on the main Weather screen navigating with the side menu pop out. I did notice it crashed when doing this while Kodi was also updating the library. When I turned off update library on startup I was able to navigate between the 3 locations without a crash. I have not repeated the process since I got a crash just going into settings. Let me know if you need anything else. Just an end user here so not really good with code lingo. Thanks oh wise ones!

thanx, it's the same as the other logs i've seen so far.

the fist time, the addon runs corectly.
but the moment it wants to run again, xbmc crashes.

i doubt the problem is in the addon, it's more likely to be a bug in kodi.

@ronie that crashing thing is Windows only afaik. Linux works ok, since I dont really use other platforms (and this was for me a test vm)

idk about rpi and android or osx/ios, but windows crashes all the time so maybe something to look there.

The Yahoo add on works fine though. If it were Kodi wouldn't that also have problems?

according to your logic, it's a windows problem since it runs fine on linux. ;-p

everything works on linux. in fact, i think it runs even better on linux than on any other os.
i haven't had a bad day of weather ever since i started using linux.

Ok. Well I'm not here to try and criticize or anything like that. I thought the add on looked great and appreciate the work put into it. But if the Yahoo weather add on works in windows and in linux then logic would say it is possible for a weather add on to work in both just fine. Why yours has an issue in windows is beyond my abilities but the result unfortunately is that windows users just won't be able to use it. Thanks for trying though! It is always appreciated!

Yahoo weather is also "his" addon.

But I agree, openweathermap extended goes nuts on windows.

Having said that again. I use Linux. Its perfectly logicaly that a specifi platform goes nuts while others dont, especially night and day OS like WIN vs Linux.

No biggy. I don't have issues with Windows so I'm not changing. I simply can't use this add on (nor can any other windows users) but thanks for the Yahoo one. At least I have that! Maybe rename it to say (non windows users) to prevent the crash events and the user thinking it's something they did and avoid adding more unnecessary stuff like this to the forum if it can't be fixed. Thanks again!

Well I'm glad that decision is not yours to make.

Why is everyone so hostile in here? It's really no big deal. If it doesn't work on all platforms why is it even available in the program? There's nothing more enjoyable than installing add ons that don't work. LOL

Actually the only hostility I see is from you. Have you actually looked at the version number? I see 0.0.4. It is in development.
