XBMC for Windows, installer test, rev 12882
#91
did you chose "run as admin" from "rightclick" menu on the setup exe? If you have UAC enabled the fact that you are only user and "admin" on the machine doesn't mean you have full admin rights.

It's a fresh install, so I might have missed something.

But it works great, just tried some 1080 mkv files ( star wars :] ) streaming over the network and it worked perfectly Big Grin

It seems all of the latest builds (past 2 months) that I've tested has been causing XBMC to crash on my computer similar to the posts 69-75 of this thread, before xbmc can create a log. If it is any help, I tried this older build, from this post, http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=176...stcount=31 , and XBMC loads fine.

Nice work charly!

Wouldn't it be an idea to ass downloads to the XBMC site? d (linux rpm's, window's excutables, osx executables).

I understand that the XBOX version cannot be made downloadable because of the licensing issues with the xbox sdk. But there is not a same reason not to release the other ones as a download. (perhaps even a nightly build? Smile Smile ).

Excuse my english. What I meant was: The other versions probably do not suffer from such licensing issues, and thus could be made available as a direct download.

Ofcourse someone needs to feel like publishing these downloads (getting a nightly build system up and running, etc.)

As an added question: Does the trunk/head version of XBMC always build? (e.g. broken builds not allowed?).

Trunk version is the xbox version. We use the linux branch for development and no it doesn't always compile but mostly it is easy to fix.
We would like to release a new version but the current one makes also problems with my ATI card.

Note about crashes: XBMC is still in early alpha so when changing binaries it's sometimes wise to delete all XBMC profile data to have a fresh start.

New builds: since a few days XBMC plays also no video for Charly and my ATI card. We're in contact with d4rk to see if we can revert the changes or what to do. Until then we don't want to release a new build.
I'm still wonder why my Nvidia card has no problem at all regardless which build I take Wink

Hi I am new to the XBMC for windows but have used it one a xbox and thought is was bomb.

When I instaleld it everything worked, but full screen visualizations. When i try to go into full screen the vis disappears and so does the mouse cursor.

Has anyone else found this issue?

Large media scans always end in a crash for me with this version.
If I run XBMC with the db that resulted from the crashed scan, it also ends in a crash.
Is this a known issue or should I try to provide debug data?

Don't forget to clean up your userdir.
And finally yes please provide the log if it still fails Wink

Ok, dl and installed.
Why is the userdir clean up requirement? What is different from the Xbox in that aspect (is it simply a case of not knowing what effect not doing it has?)
Anyways I will run a scan overnight (yes that's how long it takes to reproduce).
Will report in the other thread if it still crashes, otherwise I will here.

hehe more or less the unknown effect and to exclude possible problems , yeah Wink
Due to the fact we're supporting two userdirs (platform dirs and normal) we've faced problems in the past when switching between them.
Also the imagelib changed and sometimes the recreation of the db is needed.
