i can't connect to any shoutcast stations that use domain names. ip's work fine. also they work fine in xbmp and on my computer, so i know the domain names are valid, its just that in xbmc it can't resolve hostnames, i get the host name error message.

did you set the dns ip in the xboxmediacenter.xml to a valid/working ip?
read the xbmc
online-manual,
faq and
search the forums before posting! do not e-mail the xbmc-team asking for support!
read/follow the
forum rules! note! team-xbmc never have and never will host or distribute ms-xdk binaries/executables!

yes, its set the same as it always was, and is the same as my xbmp setting. i've also tried using the 3 name servers my isp uses. none of them work.
i've also removed the tdata and udata xbmc settings directories when upgrading. still doesn't help

just did a ip look up for one of the streams and put another entry in the playlist with the ip instead of the domain name and it worked fine.
just wish xbmc had a ftp server so i didn't have to keep loading xbmp to ftp in =)

ok, tried setting it to specific dns ip's. no go, tried setting it to blank, no go, etc, etc.
its just broken.
xbmp works fine. i can set it to any of the domain server ip's, i can set it to my router(192.168.1.1) and it works.

cvs 12-8-2003 works for me. shoutcast is still broken, but at least it can connect using a domain name now.

ok, there were two problems previously.
1. dns lookups did not work
2. shoutcast did not work-regardless of how it connected to the server it froze when the stream should have started playing.
i was able to get shoutcast playing using the ip's of stations when dns didn't work and shoutcast did. then for the 12-7 and 12-3 build shoutcast didn't work and dns didn't work. now dns works but shoutcast still doesn't.
now that dns works, it can connect to the shoutcast server get the id3 tag info on the stream, etc. but it freezes when actually trying to play the stream ("waiting to start"). this doesn't matter if your link is an ip or a domain name works.
