Android Kore - Kodi/XBMC remote for Android

Yatse does it, BubbleUPnP does it, the Kodi install on my phone and tablet does it (stream/render to another Kodi host)... I'm not sure how though (maybe pushing media to Kodi UPnP renderer?). But given that Kodi on android does it, setup config @ Kodi host is the same. and Kore is the official remote, it would be a much welcomed function. It would also eliminate the need for a secondary UPnP/DLNA app, for those that mainly want to push audio/video in one direction (Remote/phone/tablet -> Kodi host).

So far I've mostly been using Yatse for this (Through "Send to" / "Share" android "context" menu, and I must admit - just pushing a video to Kodi (TV) from a file browser, the gallery etc. with "open with" or "send to" context menu in Android, is a lot more practical than gathering people around a 4-5 inch phone screen. Kore has this capability with YouTube videos, but it would be great to be able to do so with local media, too.

Pardon if I've expained myself poorly, I'm not quiiite sure what is the correct terminology for some of these processes and elements.

I agree.
The Kodi GUI has that great "Play using..." feature. I think we only need to control that option from the Kore app.
It would be great to choose another SmartTV as a render directly from the app.

Which will only work some of the time as most so called smart TVs won't play as many containers and codecs as kodi does.

Can the kore developer please add the following features

-include smart playlist view as a menu item
I would like to go quickly to my smart playlist using the remote control.

-add our own custom menu item/s..
e.g. an addon, playlist, favourites etc..

-a button to quickly search for subtitles

-a button to make Kodi go fullscreen (not maximized) from a window state.

-a search button

==
Also, is there a way stop this app from disconnecting and reconnecting when the phone turns off the screen?

I'd prefer to just be able to replace the regular items in the remote like Movies, TV Shows etc. with my smart playlists like I have setup on my HTPC. Might be asking a little too much though.

The left menu is for navigating on Kore, not on Kodi. For direct navigation on Kodi there's the bottom row on the remote screen, with some (not all) common actions.

Subtitles are in the now playing screen, in the "actions" row, the three dots menu.

Search what? Movies/tvshow/music listings on Kore have search/filtering.

Regarding connecting/disconnecting, no, you don't want that. Conserving battery is important too.

Is there a way to "share to queue" from the YouTube app instead of immediately playing and wiping out my playlist? It's the only thing that's really keeping me tied to yatse right now from what I can tell.

If something is playing it will queue instead of immediately start playing. The current version has some issues that should be solved in the next version, but that's the way it is going to work.

Thank you very much for Kore. Great design and open source - yeah!

That said, I still use Yatse...

  • Make CNTXT bring up Codec Info when media is playing.
  • Plugins or built-in support for phone notifications to show in Kodi using the container that add-on updates appear in.
    • From selected apps, such as e-mail, Facebook and NHL team app, to name a few.
    • SMS/MMS messages.
    • Current caller, including auto- pause/resume of playback.

Long press on INFO and the codec info should sow up.
I'm not fond of adding those kind of notifications: they require pretty invasive permissions on the phone, which i'm not a fan.

Auto pause/resume on calls is just so very practical. And I got so used to it that it's hard to let go. So this is basically my +1 for TheDefiant604's feature request.
I understand your stance on invasive permissions though. Maybe you could release the functionality as an addon? It is an addon on Yatse but I'm not sure that that is enough to not require the permission on the main app. I would also understand if it is not practical from a development standpoint, I'm just venting ideas to further my feature request, hehe.

Displaying the caller in Kodi is a nice feature but not as important as the basic pause/resume I think, so if you decide to integrate this don't let yourself be put off if that requires substantial additional effort!
(you see me trying to be persuasive? that's how much I'd like to switch to Kore!)

Another feature I'd like to see and I think someone else has mentioned as well: touch navigation in the remote section. swipe for directions, tap for enter and double tap for back. Not necessary but nice.
And the third feature request, also a +1 to somebody else's: take over the lockscreen background with fanart when something is playing. A lot of apps do it and I like it, but I guess some people don't so it would be nice to have an option.

At any rate, I'm sorry for being so needy.
Thank you again very much for your work and congratualtions on its polish and your team membership!

Hello Syncd, just to congratulate you for a very good remote. I am enjoying its simplicity and versatility (powerful at teh same time). I have 2 dimes:

1. Regarding the looks of a couple of sections, any chance to replace the orange slider by cyan or another colour; feels a bit Plexish atm, if you know what I mean.

ImageImage

2. How do I take screenshots of kodi with the Kore remote? Anyway for Kore to have an icon dedicated to this?

Obrigado!
Best,

Hello Guys,

Thanks for the app i like it a lot! Clear, fast superb!

One question however, is it possible to use it from external network or only local?
Local works perfectly but then i tried to setup using the public IP of my media box and it couldn't connect. Firewall configured properly or even turned off so i thought there might be another reason? Any idea suggestion more then welcome

Are you saying your media box is directly connected to the internet? Not through a router? No NAT?

I suspect you need to organise a VPN.

The Kore app works like a charm, reacts pretty nifty and quickly downloads thumbs.

One request though on the sorting of listings, it seems now to sort case-sensitive. Resulting in the TV show iZombie being put at the bottom of the TV shows list. Kodi itself sorts the tvshows 'properly', but I think it should be easy to fix. Thanks in advance Smile
