Same problem here when using Kodibuntu. Very choppy fast forward/skip. So bad that my wife started to complain, so back to 13.2 it seems..

It's a little better with v15 but still no where it was with 13

This problem was fixed for me by going to Settings/Services and setting both minimum and maximum SMB versions to SMBv3. Probably Kodi uses the minimum protocol version by default.
