Release Netflix style next up notification

I'm using the following code:

from about 3 hours ago

I've tried in confluence skin and Titan skin

Now I should mention that these are streams that have been added to the Kodi library and played from the library which then hands off to the addon for video playback

From what I've read this should now be working?

The addon in question is Gen-I-sis - can we even say it aloud in the forums? (Apologize in advance to the overly sensitive who read this and feel the need to lecture me on my choice of addons, please don't ;-))

Any help appreciated even if to say this combo is not supported

Thanks

Mario

your type should be "episode" and not "unknown" [see below] ....maybe something to do with the scanner used ?

09:19:11 T:1686436120 NOTICE: NEXTUP SERVICE NOTIFICATION Player -> logMsg : Got details of playing media{"id":1,"jsonrpc":"2.0","result":{"item":{"episode":18,"label":"Day 3: 6:00 A.M.-7:00 A.M.","playcount":0,"season":3,"showtitle":"24","tvshowid":-1,"type":"episode"}}}

You mean scrapper right?

Well as a test I did a clean install of Kodi, the notification script, and genesis add-on.

Added a tv show to library using TVDB scrapper.

The problem - "unknown" type is there.

Tried a second time with TMDB for TV show and same problem.

Any suggestion?

Can you or anyone get this to work with a video addon that is used to scan strm files into the library?

A suggestion - maybe if you already know it is episode 2 and season 1 etc you already know enough for the assumption of the type ?

Would a Kodi debug enabled log help?

My setup is the same as yours and it is working ( i still use its predecessor to create strm's - hope that makes sense) .This has also been confirmed working by someone else. I use the XEM scrapper with listing set to TVDB. My knowledge of scrappers is non existant so can't help there.

maybe a log of the scrapper adding a tv series might help.

How this the addon load the thumbnails? I dont save metadata/artwork with my media and havent seen any artwork/thumnbail appear when the addon window appears. I have a mysql setup so the artwork would be saved in each pc's thumbnails folder.

edit: i see this when i look at the debug log. Even though i see a thumbnail and fanart when I view this particular episode in my library, i just see a black window when i play the previous episode and tells me this episode is next.

One other thing, dont know if its a feature or bug. With the watched option enabled, says for example you watch episode s01e02 and it tells you episode s01e03 is up next. If you watch episode s01e02 another time, it wont tell you s01e03 is up next.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is broken with confluence in the latest version

Here you go....

http://pastebin.com/YwzEdGjr

I used TVMC so I didn't have to mess with my Kodi install but that is a debug log of me adding a TV show using genesis and TVDB as the scrapper.

Watching an episode and jumping towards the end to show the error of unknown once again in the notification service.

Hope this helps

I'm going to submit the version with the strm fixes to the official repo soon, as I do not use them I can only go on the feedback here and @bigpanda's support. Thanks

Thanks

Hopefully someone can shed some light on why I'm getting this error -- or -- provide a fix in the service to deal with the situation when it occurs.

Hopefully I can soon enjoy this addon :-)

Thanks for the hard work so far

(2015-06-17, 01:52)calhaus Wrote: Hi, first thaks for this is amazing!

Second,
Can you add an option for: If you press/choose to continue watching in the prompt at the end of an episode, the next episode goes to queue, and not start right away?

-I mean, for example, if you set to "don't play next" as default in options, at the end if you want to see an episode you have to press "Ok", when you press Ok, it jumps straight to the next episode, instead of finishing the last 30 seconds or so of the ongoing episode.
-This also will happen if you just press Ok to play next with the "play next" selected as option as default. Pressing Ok here, should be to double check you want to see a next episode but also to close the prompt so it wont stays in front of the ongoing episode for 30 seconds.

Third,
Can you add an option to the hide the prompt when you press "backspace" or other back key?

EDIT:
Small bug: If you are watching a watched episode, the prompt will not show up.

Also can we have this in other position, like on the top right? And a bit transparent?
(I use subtitles and this is right on front of them Wink )
The whole point of this is to have a prompt to play the next episode at around the time the credits start rolling not at the end. Sounds like you're better off just setting Kodi to play the next video automatically and pressing stop if you don't want to.
The functional purpose is clear, but some TV series don't follow the same simple pattern of Credits Screen = Episode Complete. For instance, in Veep, the credits roll while the final scene in the episode continues to play out in half of the screen. In addition, a lot of TV shows have scenes after the credits - Party Down, Banshee, Rick & Morty, Arrested Development, etc.

I honestly think having either an option in settings to hide the notification or play the next episode instantly, or having a button/keymap that provides similar functionality, would be very useful.

All of this can be achieved by simply setting Kodi to play the next video automatically though.

True, but not when you start playing an episode from a widget. This was the main reason I started to make this addon. As for an option to hide the notification, that shouldn't be a problem. I guess the still watching one should always show though. It's missed version 1.7 but I'll have a think for the next one.

Just wanted to say this is awesome and the git version works with strm files.

Maybe a stupid question, but how do you easily test this addon for skin development? So without skipping through a bunch of episodes?
