Skins (stupid question)
#1
Hi
I'm a new user of XBMC for Windows, and I'm searching for some skin to test for my HTPC.
But I don't understand if skins are divided by XBMC version (xbox, Windows and Mac) and can't find a unique repository for skins

Can you help me?

thanks

skins should work regardless of platform, tough some skins can be heavy if u use the org xbox.

there is a svn repo here:
https://xboxmediacenter.svn.sourceforge....diacenter/

You can type it into your browser and decide for a skin to download like say u download aeon skin the link you use would be:
https://xboxmediacenter.svn.sourceforge....r/Vision2/

you need a program called tortoise svn to download skins from svn repo.
http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads

then browse to a folder where you would like the skin to be downloaded, right click in the folder and select svn checkout in the menu.

You then get a folder named vision2 containing the skin. inside the vision2 folder you will find a "build.bat" script. run it and you wil get a "BUILD" folder. go into the build folder and copy the vision2 folder to your xbmc\skins folder

then select the skin in the settings for xbmc Smile

this is for windows use, on other platforms i dont know.

what skin u use is up to what experience you like..
always use the default skin projectmayhemIII if you have problems with some functions.

For advanced skins there is AEON and MEDIASTREAM.
this skins are popular but not on svn.
AOEN:
http://www.aeonproject.com/

MEDIASTREAM:
http://teamrazorfish.co.uk

This are ready to go by standard download. just extract them to your skin fodler.

On svn you could choose:

Basics-101/ and Basics-Vision/
these are light skins very userfriendly and easy.

other widely used skins are:
MARK-III/, Vision2/ and xTV/

Checkout XBMC Skin Manager => http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=28000

Cool
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.
