update
the hack does take care of the ghosting but it seem that the
problem is now a green screen with a magnified red color haze on top
the color scheme seems out of sync as some old broken tv's do
please help

update
the crash issue is resolved by turning of the rss feeds as metioned in other threads
video is still not working although adding the rectangle hack in the platform directories en starting xbmc thru install or the
start XBMC with -p option
when closing the video screen (with x) the fonts are garbled and the pointer is a white square
