Remote desktop using a pda/phone

As an alternative to using a remote, you could use remote desktop using your smart phone. I haven't tried it yet (still waiting for my htpc), but was wondering if people have been using it for XBMC.

RDM+ and VNC+:

Puppetmaster (uses Bluetooth, not sure if it is still being developed):

There must be other (free?) solutions, any tips?

Well, I am considering using a pocket pc to control XBMC as well, but I don't think that Remote Desktop and/or VNC will do that in a comfortably/easy way. I may be wrong though, and will check that.

I was thinking about creating a mini-app just for XBMC, like one with really big buttons to navigate through XBMC menus, maybe with some data updating, etc.

I would like to know if someone already did something like that, before I start reinventing the wheel!?!?

I do belive there is a web interface which will do what you want, I don't know if it is working properly on the Windows builds however, so try it and see.

There is. Please try it out and report bugs to trac.

Yeah, I tried the web interface on my atlantis B1 on windows the other night.

It seemed to work fine. I could browse through all my video and music sources, play things, stop things, alter volume, setup new sources ... it all seemed great.
