Hi am running Atlantis Beta 1 on XP (sp2)
machine:
2.4 ghz single core
512meg ram
Intel® 82865G Graphics Controller. Driver:6.14.10.4396
am trying to play back xvid avi's about 700meg in size.
the avi's are valid. I have played them in my stand-alone player and in vlc with no probs.
They play for about 15 seconds, then freeze. XBMC itself does not hang - just playback that stops and will not continue - image on screen is a still frame from the point at which it stopped playing.
I wondered if it might be a network problem, so tried running them from local HD but it does the same thing.
Any ideas?

Can you try creating a short sample from that file and seeing whether it does the same thing? If so, could you upload it to megaupload or similar so we can reproduce?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan
Its not a single file. I have about 40 of these (dvdrips from various sources). They all do the same thing.
I dont have a video cutting tool to make the sample. Can you recommend something?

Virtualdub perhaps? Problem is that it may just fix the problem.
None of my files do this, so if the files are available elsewhere, another option is to drop a hint as to how to obtain them.
Cheers

Thankyou so much for all your help. It was the Audio drivers. I am setting up XBMC on a box thats destined to go in my lounge room and hadnt yet hooked up speakers. When I got the Audio drivers installed, the playback problem ceased to be a problem.
Thanks also to above poster. Im using XP but it looks like theres a theme there.
Really appreciate the help guys. Thankyou

I am having a similar problem my videos stop randomly. XBMC returns me to the video library menu. It's not the vvideo files because they play fine on my xbox w/ xbmc. the audio settings are set to analog. any ideas?

Xbox is likely using mplayer to play the files. ffplay would be a better comparison tool. Regardless, a debug log and sample if possible are going to be needed.

ive had similar experiences if i dont map the shares in windows first, and therefore i just play the content via xbmc for windows smb.
